The early rounds of the FA Cup always throw up the results like we have witnessed this weekend. Simply put, many teams do not see the value in fielding their best teams and get rolled. Never have a go before the final team is announced.

If there are odds offered, I'm interested

Confirmed by this 3rd round stat. Of the 15 teams that made 7 or more changes from their previous match only 4 won.

FA Cup 3rd Round, think kt hit the nail on the head concerning the Fleetwood v Leicester game on last weeks thread.

I fancied Leicester goals given they ought to be very comfortable in the league but not likely to get anywhere near the top 6 or so. One would think the FA Cup would therefore have been on their radar. It wasn't just the team changes, I expected a few after so many league games over the past month, but the guys who did play didn't look remotely interested.

Sad to see what was a great competition continue to fall from grace.

Newcastle Jets vs Brisbane Roar

Roar's form has been poor this season, however they have been struggling with injuries and suspensions too.
For this match they welcome back three key players to boost their defensive efforts.

The Jets have their fair share of injuries and players on international duty too for this match, and some of their missing players are huge for the team: their top striker O'Donovan, Kantarovski, Vargas.
Last week they struggled to beat the lowly Mariners at home, scoring and winning late in the game, only after the guests had one player red carded.

Brisbane Roar want to revive their season and push for the finals, and with three top players returning to their squad, I think they stand a good chance in this match.

Bet: Roar +0.75 @1.96

Crystal Palace v Burnley
Palace at home are 3-4-4 ( 14-18 ). Burnley away are 4-5-2 ( 11-11 ). The reverse fixture in September was won by Burnley 1-0. The stand-out stat on this game is Burnley's record this season. They have conceded 19 goals in 22 outings - 15 in 8 matches against the top six and 4 in 14 matches against the rest ie Only 4 single goals in 14 matches. My take on this is we can virtually guarantee that Palace will score 0 or 1 goal. Average odds on 0 are 23/10 and on 1 are 16/10. I have faith in Hodgson finding some way of nicking a goal which gives me
Palace One goal exactly @ 16/10

West Bromwich Albion v Brighton + Hove Albion
WBA at home are 1-7-3 ( 10-15 ). Brighton away are 2-2-7 ( 5-13 ). The reverse fixture in September was won 3-1 by Brighton. WBA won their opening two matches of the season and have not won in the 20 since. The " New Manager" bounce ( Pardew ) has just not happened.I find it very easy to ignore the 11/10 on offer for the WBA win which leaves the draw at around 2/1 or the away win at 32/10. While researching the odds I came across this little gem at a book who shall remain nameless. Matchbet and Total markets - Draw and under 2.5 goals @ 2/1 - Draw and under 3.5 goals @ 39/20.
My pick
The draw @ 2.05/1 at Sportingbet
( If you are considering the draw shop around for odds as I found they range from 1.88 to 2.05 )

Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory

Perth have gone 3 matches without scoring, which is highly unusual for them, especially when they have Castro, Keogh and Taggart on the park.
Their defence is like a sieve, having let in 30 goals in 15 matches so far.

Victory lost away to Wellington last round, but they played in 10 men and still scored first.

The round before they managed only a draw at home vs lowly Mariners, and with their big guns available today I expect them to bounce back.

Both teams should go for goals, as Perth are still in the fight for play-offs.

Bet 1: Over 3.5 goals @1.98
Bet 2: Melbourne over 2.5 goals @2.10

CC Mariners vs Melbourne City

The Mariners have struggled for goals this season as they are the A-League’s lowest scorers.
For this match they are missing seven key players through international duty, suspensions and injuries.

Melbourne City are missing five players themselves for similar reasons, however the impact is bigger on the smaller calibre team, the Mariners.

City are coming into this match after two consecutive wins, the second one being last week away to Perth.

Bet 1: Melbourne -0.25 @1.769
Bet 2: Number of goals 2 or 3 @2.00

Adelaide vs Sydney

Adelaide are missing 7 players for this match.

Sydney have a full strength squad and are in fantastic form, runaway leaders with 12 wins and 2 draws in 15 matches.
They boast the best attack and the tightest defence in the league and are by far the best team in the competition.

The last three matches between these two teams, including one this season, were won by Sydney without conceding a goal.

Bet: Sydney win @1.81

unlucky mate i understood what you did... you covered your 59/1 bet with a 10 unit bet so you either won 9 units or the 59/1 ( a win win situation ) i always thought that good tipsters do not cover their bets but hindsight it was a perfect play for you.....But LOL not really a 10 unit Tip for the readers if you understand

just my view at the time when you posted it ( NOT NW ) (B)

exactly that mate. I don't usually cover but i know my Liverpool side too well.

Glad my one year old can't understand words yet and god i hope her first word isn't the one i shouted at TV when that 3rd City goal went in. :silly:

One that got away but profit on game nonetheless.

seams my cover was better than i thought. Bookie had 2.0, for some reason i read it as evens, was actually 2/1, ie. the correct decimal show. So 19 units instead of 9.

So actually a lucky break and after a day of near misses at last some positive news!
