One bet in the Blues v Chiefs game for me, buy Duffie's try minutes at 15 with Spreadex.

Won on him last week at 9/4 anytime and bought him at 16. This week he's 11/8 best anytime but available to buy at a point lower on the spreads. Good enough for me to stick with him (I'd equate it to around 12/5 anytime.)

Another try for Akira Ioane would be no surprise but the prices don't quite make enough appeal.

Two bets in the Reds v Brumbies game:

Buy Kuridrani's try minutes at 13 with Spreadex. I'd equate that to better than 11/4 anytime when the best fixed odds price is 6/4. I'd say the true price should be somewhere in the middle.

Tom Cusack to score a try at 9/2 with Skybet (and a token bet on him for 1st try at 33/1). Not much Super Rugby form to go on but I'll take a chance on my feeling that the price is a little generous based on prices elsewhere and his NRC form.

Been thinking since Monday that everything says that this is a game the Blues should win but I haven't been able to pull the trigger. Going to do so now, but conservatively, they have burned me too many times.

Later on Brumbies v Reds, strongly with the Brumbies on the minus as it sounds like most are

Noticed a couple of intriguing options on B365 for the Reds v Brumbies game

Reds - Penalty converted before 27mins 30 secs @ 1.85
Brumbies - Penalty converted before 29mins 15 secs @ 1.85

These seem very late (generally around 12-13mins) and Australian teams typically take the 3 points when available rather than pushing for tries. As long as the Brumbies don't blow the Reds out of the water early, these could both come through comfortably

Chiefs and Reds are two teams I will continue to oppose until the bookies catch up on them.

Took Blues to win at evens and Brumbies -4 at 9/10 earlier in the week. Adding Blues over 26.5 at 9/10 and Brumbies over 28.5 at 17/20.

Don't you dare burn me again, Blues!

Just an update on the Blues Chiefs team lists - looks like Bodie Rettalick & Shaun Stevenson are both late scratchings for the Chiefs, this definitely helps the Blues chances of winning. Originally taking the Blues to just win the 1st half, but now they are a good chance of winning the game.(this game was a low scoring draw in the rain last year).

Going under 50.5 points in the Reds Brumbies game. Historically low scoring, rubbish games vs these two in Brisbane and think it'll be close so can't see an expansive game.

That game just convinced me to take Sunwolves +7.5. Like the Blues, the Rebels are still rubbish for me and Sunwolves much improved this year. Not backing the Rebels until they show they've improved, I think they struggled vs the Reds till they went down to 14 men.

Same old Blues. Feel like I find myself saying that about week 2 or 3 every season, and I'm a sucker for thinking differently.

I did have to laugh at the end there once the handicap was gone, 1min left and they try to drive it from the 22, then an absolute miracle to get the ball back after full time and can't throw it straight. It's just classic Blues of last few years.

Blues season. Wash, rinse, repeat. Year after year. And despite that garbage at some point in coming weeks they'll produce a world class win from nowhere. So frustrating. I didn't see one Chiefs backer anywhere.

The only positive rugby wise I can take from this game is that number 3 for the Reds, at 21 years old he's got a real future ahead of him. Lightning quick, strong in the tackle and bossing the scrums. Other than that, I'm giving my eyes a rest, switching over to the cricket, it really has been a tough watch. Only decent player for the Brumbies was their number 9 and they yanked him off after 50min, really poor.

Sunwolves v Rebels preview
3 units, Rebels -6.5 points 9/10 Sportingbet, Sunbet, Playabets, BetXchange

Still can't find any points lines for the above game but watching Brumbies struggling in Brisbane they are hardly franking last week's form in Tokyo where they beat Wolves by 7 points. Rebels minus has grown on me though will keep it steady with the units.

If anyone has any money left...ja it's been a horror start for sure. But can we really honestly honestly say any of the two games this morning surprised us in terms of the outcome. Both games were conference derbies. Personally I think derbies r almost always risky bets, worse if they involve teams like the Blues who don't have a recent winning culture.

I'm definitely with you on the Crusaders. Nothing in the world will prevent a smashing of the Stormers tomorrow.

Canes Shud cruise in Argentina, however, I wouldn't be surprised if the game is a nail biter

The Blues should have won, no two ways about it - just bad decision making in final 10 minutes. Think the Blues have a mental block against NZ teams.

The Brumbies were just awful and Reds raised there game. Lesson here is that backing a favourite on the road in Superugby should have a precaution sign next to the bet button!!! Home dogs are always great and Reds had a point to prove after being smacked against the Rebels ...

Think the Blues was the right call boys so bounce of the ball makes for a GOLDEN weekend :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

A double note of caution as my most recent punting form has been about as cold as the weather currently gripping the UK, but I fancy a couple of bets in the Wigan v Widnes game.

Buy Widnes hotshots at 25 with SPIN (Hanbury, Marsh, Inu, Chamberlain)

Inu to score a try at 29/10 with Lads (boosted from 11/4) and to score 1st try at 20/1.

Chance of at least 1 try from those 4 good enough to tempt me in at the price, Inu in particularly decent form.

Looks like a late change meant Inu didn't take part so the bets on him are void and that adds 8 points to the Hotshots make up meaning, on top of the Marsh try, an 8 point profit on the game.

A slightly unusual scenario in tomorrow's first game, I'm buying both team's hotshots at relatively high prices.

Buy Sunwolves hotshots at 40 with SPIN (Tupou, Lafaele, Yamada, Robinson)
Buy Rebels hotshots at 56 with Spreadex (Hodge, Naivalu, Maddocks, D. Haylett-Petty)

Bottom line is I make both prices wrong by over 12% and I'd rarely pass up that sort of edge. I've looked at the players stats and it doesn't put me off pulling the trigger. Essentially I need this octet of players to muster at least 4 tries between them to show a profit. Let's see how it pans out

Hey all, been a super rugby punter and also a follower of the forum for a while now so thought I'd share my 2 cents this weekend. Went big on the blues and medium on brumbies yesterday, in hindsight should've kept it minimum stakes with a team like the blues (I'm a blues fan) but was still the right call to back them as no way I'd have got on the chiefs given their circumstances. Should've read more into the reds playing well in the back half of the rebels game last week, but the Australian conference just sucks so no bets or small stakes only for Aussie derbies this season for me.

Earlier in the week piled into saders -15.5 (100x better coached than stormers), and the sharks -4.5 (tad concerned now after seeing their team tho). Also only a medium play on Bulls +11.5, don't have a great read on bulls just yet. Unsure which way to go regarding sunwolves and jags handicaps so might just take smaller stakes on higher value margin options closer to game time (thinking rebels 1-10 at this stage but they were incredibly unimpressive for me last week). Genia was class but scoreline was flattering and they fell apart as soon as he came off. With Genia likely being subbed off around the 60th again with last week being his first game back from a fractured back , I'll also look at 2nd half markets for the wolves.
