Starting this thread because we have the 3rd monument of the season - Paris-Roubaix - on Sunday. We also get Scheldeprijs live in SA tomorrow afternoon which is a flat sprinters delight. Unfortunately no SA books are offering any odds on the race which has been won by Kittel in 5 of the last 6 years. If they had odds in our backwater I would consider a beer on Groenewegen. Will post my Hell of the North idea's later in the week.

Well that did not last long - Most sprinters DQ at rail crossing leaving Kittel a clear run. Time to go out and kick the dogs :silly:

Sunday sees the 3rd cycling monument ( and probably the most famous one ) of the season. Paris-Roubaix more commonly known as "The Hell of the North". As far as can be determined it looks like a 60% chance of rain along the route which makes picking any riders even more difficult. I'm going beers on
Win only
Gilbert @ 15/2
Terpstra @ 7/1
Have Martin from a few weeks ago @ 35/1
Top 3
Trentin @ 15/1
That's the beers done. One punt
Martin over Durbridge @ evens
( I asked two local books to price up Rowe for top three but they both declined - Should be around 50/1 and worth a beer if you can get it )

I'm not going to explain this, but for the genuine cycling punters here's a fun fact. The broom wagon at Paris-Roubaix tomorrow will have a trailer attached

I've had a shocker this weekend and am desperate for a winner. Only one man I can back with any confidence in such a case...

Yes he doesn't have a great record here and concerns over his form. But I think the World Champ will be hungry for this one. No big hills to assist the break so if you can stay on your bike (and Quick Step's tripple punch doesnt break you) then you should be sprinting for the line. Only a few outright sprinters faster than PS and the chances are they wont be there at the end.

Big Play - SAGAN FOR THE WIN!! (Close to 3/1)

Nice one there Chaps. I was not allowed to take Sagan in-play - forbidden by the missus - I have a tendency to jinx her favorite riders

Well done Couch, only a small profit for me but happy to take the 5/10 Sagan at that point - great ride by the runner up though, I expected him to fade after being in the break all day.

I thought I had jinxed Sagan when he had to call for tools to tighten his handle bars shortly after I got the bet down
