Yeah not looking great for me at the moment, added a speculative 11to20 on Brumbies last night and quite invested in Brumbies - 5.5. Should lose both and end the weekend slightly down...

Up early after a night out on the sauce and watching the Brumbies game and see that they are losing. Not one for ever backing the Jaguares as they are so unpredictable both away and at home but seriously the Brumbies are an absolute joke of a team. Ended up going for Brumbies -6 but only a small stake for interest.

What are peoples opinions on the Racing v Munster game later on? Liking the look of Racing

Braindead stuff from Brumbies and a terrible result for me. May need to step away for a while, lost focus of late and no longer actually enjoying watching rugby as a result.

Thinking along the same lines South. Struggling to enjoy watching and given how time consuming this competition is. The payoff is precious little when it goes horribly wrong! Balancing family time and rugga can be tricky as well. No longer appeals to me as much as it did

Was just praying for that late Brumbies penalty instead of a try to get the +7.5 through and still keep highest scoring half as the first. Feel very lucky to come out of that one with profit, not pretty from the Brumbies at all

Agreed mate - Brumbies used to be so dogged on defence and were bloody hard to score against.
Some woeful defending today, schoolboy error stuff from them. Awful.

Re Racing v Munster, I too like Racing but not sure I'll get too involved. I have some 35/1 on Racing to win the cup, so that will (probably :P ) be enough interest for me.
Although irrespective of who wins today I'd expect Leinster to be short priced favourite for the final - they were outstanding yesterday and look a class above.

Only positive from the Brumbies game is that it makes my call on the Brumbies vs Crusaders game much easier. Main difficulty for next week will be calling Blues vs Jags and Stormers vs Rebels.

I think the Austrailian Conference has been a weird one this year. Reds, Rebels and Tahs started out really well but Reds and Rebels have faded badly in recent weeks. Reds cannot score points and Rebels look like they've just run out of gas but put up a spirited performance in the 2nd half against the Bulls yesterday. As for the Brumbies? Well they've just been garbage all season.

Definitely agree with you regarding Leinster. They have been thoroughly impressive all season long and are the likely winners of the competition. I think Racing will be pumped for today's game as i know much has been made on Dan Carter going out on a high note and what with home advantage i think they'll be too strong for Munster. Munster however have the prospect of an all Irish final so they won't need much motivation at all

Cheers Brad and good spot WP Rohan

Been a good afternoon and going to push my luck a bit and going Racing over 31.5 points at 17/20 WSB

Have 24 already and think they will take 3 when they can and if that man Thomas gets a gap perhaps he can get his hatrick

well done Brent.

Imagine being on shirts, Thomas in 14 giving it to 9 when over line. That's sort of thing that would have happened to me based on some stiff luck this weekend.

i'm on Racing 25/1 tournament outright so will shout home the French side here.

small silver lining on a poor rugby morning - Backed London Marathon runner up @ 50/1 e/w, got 1/3rd odds @ 17/1 a place so some losses recovered, thankful for anything right now.

Reading posts looks like Brumbies cost most punters so don't think i was alone, but i'd doubled up at HT so it was a costly Sunday morning rugby.

Brent, with your knowledge of the bookies, can't you convince BetX and/or World of Sport to look at spreads again. Offerings in South Africa are really poor.

Spread betting is virtually extinct in SA which is a shame, I have approached one of the big overseas companies (Spreadex) to come over with no joy and am busy looking at other options.

Sportsbet stopped me placing spreads a couple of years back.

SportsBet obviously thinking it is still a good way to go, as long as you just stop anyone who looks like they might make money and you have a sure thing going.

But would also seem there is opportunity for the other companies. Surely fixed odds is getting really crowded now? Other guys could choose key markets (say rugby/soccer/cricket) and then copy international prices. I am guessing SportBet doesn't make its own markets either.

I think spreads trading is quite labour intensive especially if you have to manually update.

It is interesting that very few firms overseas offer a spreads and fixed odds offering (Spreadex the exception) so I think what is needed is a specialist offer - I guess the question is whether the SA market is big enough?
