Thanks bud, appreciate it. A bit less tongue in cheek so sorry for the few regulars if it came over a bit more sombre/emotional this week.

Some early Super Rugby caps out:

Blues (-8.5) vs Reds
Rebels (+1.5) vs Waratahs
Highlanders (-3.5) vs Chiefs
Brumbies (+15.5) vs Hurricanes
Sunwolves (+8.5) vs Bulls
Sharks (+4.5) vs Lions
Jaguares (-6.5) vs Stormers

Not sure what the June Int would have done to the Jaguares' confidence but they should be a different team under Ladesma and the Stormers have really not traveled well, so early fancy for the Jaguares -6.5

My plays for the weekend:

Eng +5.5 vs SA:
With the series dead and buried, Rassie has confirmed that he will be making 4-5 changes this week. With the pressure piling on Eddie Jones, it must surely be all or nothing. Eddie will know that if he doesn't get a result out of this game, then his job is on the line. There has also been a lot of rain in the cape this week and with Newlands being a historically low scoring ground, the +5.5 seems the obvious choice.

France +25.5 vs NZ.
France, after being red carded inside 20minutes, were still able to beat the handicap last weekend. NZ will be without Barrett and will be likely to make a few changes to test combinations. Also favouring the +12.5 HT handicap in favour of the French.

A tentative call on Aus +3.5 based on home ground advantage and the fact that Beale and Pocock are playing great rugby. The Irish are playing great rugby and Smidt is a fantastic coach so will keep the stake small.

Lastly, the Tahs -1.5 seems too good to be true. Rebels will be without Genia and I expect the Tahs to target this game to cement their playoff aspirations.

Happy punting.

Possible ABs team for this weekend

Forwards: Moody, Taylor, Franks, S Whitelock, Barrett, Frizell (debut), Savea, L Whitelock
Backs: A Smith, McKenzie, Ioane, SBW, Goodhue (debut), Naholo, B Smith
Bench: Coltman, Tu'inukuafe, Tu'ungafasi, Hemopo (debut), Todd, Perenara, Mo'unga (debut), J Barrett

Despite the 6 changes to the starting 15 and further 5 changes on the bench, I'm going to have a good go at the minus.
With the series gone, not sure the French will have much motivation.
Just think after last weeks shocker that Hanson & Co will have the ABs humming. The dry conditions (indoors in Dunedin) will suit them.
Hopefully Mo'unga will get a decent crack off the bench, he'll be the ideal bloke to exploit tired French legs in the last 20.

ABs -24 @ 1.95

In the other games:
Will likely go Ireland 1-12 again, but not large stakes.
Also fancy England plus, may also have a play on them to win. Will wait on teams.

if wet and windy in CT tomorrow, can see kicks being turned down for a punt to corner, set up the Bok lineouts and go for the power over which was looking more well-oiled last week.

Chilliboy 28/1 1st try and 5/1 anytime appeals.

I hear you too Couch but I think you’re over-thinking it. If the Boks start rolling towards the line the others are doing all the hard work. And 28/1 & 5/1 doesn’t exactly require a trigger pull, more a gently lofted dart.

A third week in a row where I'm off to work in a few minutes , will miss some great racing at Scotsville as well.

In week 1 I backed the French plus 24.5 and got smashed , Week 2 I had no bet and they beat the cap with 14 men , this week is therefore unplayable. I'll have a small nibble on unders at around 56.5.

I fancy Australia on the plus although my heart is with the Irish , I'm firmly in England's camp and will have a go on the plus and under 44.5 total.

I think Scotland represent very good value later against a very poor Pumas side atm.

Play Well

Over 56.5 points NZ v France @1.90. Think both teams will be looking to throw the ball around in this last test and under the roof as well. NZ side doesn't look as defensively strong so think France could be good for 20 points. Just hope D Mac can run things ok at no.10

And a few try scorer goes:

ATS - A Savea @ 2.50
ATS - A Smith @ 2.50
FTS - Naholo @ 7.50

Very interested in USA -13 against Canada. The US have just come off a win against Scotland and they have covered the handicap in their last three meetings with Canada
11.02.18 ACH USA Canada 29 : 10
02.07.17 FI USA Canada 52 : 16
19.02.17 ACH Canada USA 34 : 51
And check out the recent form of Canada...
16.06.18 FI Canada Russia 20 : 43
10.06.18 FI Canada Scotland 10 : 48
And then check out the recent form of USA
17.06.18 FI USA Scotland 30 : 29
10.06.18 FI USA Russia 62 : 13
Note they have both played Russia....Canada losing at home 20-43...and USA trouncing Russia 62-13

The last round of the pool stages kicks off this afternoon. The Super Rugby break has spiced up the last round as all of the super rugby franchises have opted to include super rugby players for some valuable game time before super rugby resumes.

The top two from each pool and the two best placed third teams advances to the quarter finals.

The current combined log for the teams that can still make it is as follows:
1. Pumas nr1 in North (unbeaten) 34pts
2. WP nr1 in South (unbeaten, 1 draw) 32pts
3. Griquas nr1 in Central (1 loss) 31pts
4. Free State XV nr2 in Central(1 loss) 29pts
5. Bulls nr 2 in North (2 losses, both against the pumas) 26pts
6. Sharks nr3 in Central (3 losses, FS once, Griquas twice) 24pts
7. SWD nr2 in South (2 losses, WP & Boland) 24pts
8. Lions nr3 in North (3 losses, Pumas twice, bulls once) 23pts
9. Boland nr3 in South (3 losses, 1 draw against WP) 21pts

2 games left for the last round
Valke v Pumas & Lions v Bulls

Pumas need a win to secure first position. Lions need one log point to make the top 8, a win would move them up to 6th.

Can't get my head around how poor they have been.
It's the same team that won 6 on the trot in Super Rugby FFS!!
How can that turnaround happen?
Can't be just coaching, can it?!?
Perhaps it can - irrespective I won't be touching the Jags for at least a couple of weeks.
