Ok lads a full weekend of rugby ahead with the Rugby Champs back, the Currie Cup continuing and plenty of European and New Zealand domestic action.

Rugby Champs
Here are the caps for this weeks games

New Zealand -27.5 v Argentina
Australia -5.5 v SA

Currie Cup

There was drama in the Free State v Sharks game last weekend with Betx coming out -15.5 Sharks, probably not realising it was a Free State B team - the money flew into the minus and the line started at around 30 points (WSB opened +45.5) and Betx were left smiling when the Sharks barely won the game

Here are my projected caps for this weekend

Sharks -21.5 v Pumas
Griquas +10.5 v Bulls
Lions -33.5 v Cheetahs

Will take a look at the Pro 14 later

Looks good Brent thanks! Think people are giving the Currie Cup Cheetahs B...or C team too little credit. I would guess more around -22.5 for the Lions v Cheetahs game but the rest look about right to me.

Already took a healthy helping of Australia -4.5 @2.00 when it came out. I'm still a bit more conflicted on the NZ game as Argentina can be very stubborn.

Not considering this a banker by any means but happy to put this up very early as I will battle to form an opinion on the full time cap.

I like half time handicap, Arg +13.5 points, 9/10 at WSB

I've taken 2nd half as the Highest Scoring Half for the NZ vs Arg game @ 0.83 on WSB

Arg should be on a high after their win and will hopefully keep it tight for the first 30 min or so.

NZ have started slow this year and then pull away during the 2nd half when they simply switch gears

This bet has been successful every time I've taken it this year, hoping for more of the same :-)

Have taken Waikato +11.5 at 9/10. The Wellington team that was announced certainly won't shoot any lights out and happy to take a double digit start on the Mooloos at home.

Having a go at Australia again this weekend. Neither team has been impressive, but Australia has impressed me more than the Boks so far. Have seen the Boks probable team and for me it’s a few steps backwards from the previous two tests’ teams. Then there is also the Brisbane factor, Australia’s best performing venue.

Boks have started slowly and Australia has started solidly against NZ in both tests. With that in mind I’m taking Australia -2.5 halftime handicap at 9/10 and Australia halftime/fulltime at even money.

Then also Australia -4.5 fulltime handicap at 0.89/1.

Not sure who the ref is yet, but with the Boks’ defensive frailties out wide I will also look at Australia overs.

Have followed on Waikato +11.5. The Wellington team is underwhelming and other bookies have the cap at 6.5. I see the Pro 14 caps are out. Cardiff are looking strong this season so eyeing out the -3.5 on them. Elsewhere, the Cheetahs +21.5 against Ospreys.

Not sure if I missed any action today but WSB handicaps to the right of mine in brackets

Sharks -21.5 v Pumas (-21.5)
Griquas +10.5 v Bulls (+11.5)
Lions -33.5 v Cheetahs (-28.5)

Will look around a bit but reckon the Lions can beat that handicap

Ausies vs SA - I take with confidence AUS -6,5 after i heard rumours who will come off the bench and who gonna start. There is no way how the Boks will beat this AUS loose trio to the breakdown. The Aus's also apply offside line pressure defence, as can be seen against the AB's. The Boks don't know how to deal with it.Normally the Boks start slow , in contrast with the AUS who play a type of fast game with a solid defence in 1st half. Machem's Halftime -2,5 also appeal. In a nutshell ,the Ausies will win by 7 points and more.

SA to win 2nd half @ 6/4 really appeals to me. (Sunbet).

Boks have been much better 2nd half of late whereas it's the opposite for Aussies, their conditioning looked suspect vs All Blacks. Also prefer look of Boks bench to Aus, Marx + Pollard as well as the 2 props look good replacements to make a positive difference.

May also look at the HT/FT Aus/SA also i'm also worried Boks sloppy start could leave too big a gap to chase down.

No, forecast had nothing to do with the bet for me. Would have gone unders even if it was an afternoon game in perfect conditions. Games at the coast (Durban and Cape Town) are just normally lower scoring.

Bradie, as an overs punter I honestly don't think this a game you should get involved in. The Sharks follow the same pattern every year. After an underwhelming performance they tighten up their defence. I think tomorrow's Currie Cup games will have buckets of points

Hanrick, Shaft,
Thanks for your comments
Shaft, I know I m an overs punters and to be honest with you, I hate taking unders especially if I watch the game as I want to see tries, offloads, … and not push for a forward pass and scrums to be set up
But on that game, you both convinced me to go ahead with the under so just hope I won’t be the black cat and that the game will end up with 100 points :silly:

Not sure Glasgow will be the force they were last year...Rennie is getting itchy feet already....and I'm sweet on Edinburgh this season and I'm not convinced about Ulster (yet...although a very good win last week)

Egon Seconds is the ref in the Griquas v Bulls game and he never fails to hand out a yellow card. He issued at least one in all of his last 7 games. WSB offers the usual 45c for a yellow to issued. I've combined this with under 9.5 tries in the NZ v Arg game @ 65c. Since 2012, this bet would've lost only once in all the NZ home games (1/16) - 5 tries each in the Aus game in 2017. This also failed only once in all of Arg away games (1/18) - when SA beat them 73-13 (9-1 try count). Throughout the competition the only other instance 10 or more tries were scored was Aus v NZ 34-54 (4-8 try count)

The double is available @ 1.39
