I must admit to thinking this tournament would never get off the ground but it starts Friday, November 16, with Cape Town Blitz v Tshwane Spartans, Newlands

WSB Outright Prices (correct as of time of this post)

Durban Heat 28/10
Tshwane Spartans 33/10
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants 7/2
Paarl Rocks 5/1
Jozi Stars 13/2
Cape Town Blitz 13/2

@MSL_T20 is the official twitter account.

Interested to see how much interest this generates among punters and early early thoughts most welcome whilst we decide how best to cover it on GFTG

Durban Heat are the team to beat for me. Awesome bowling attack - spearheaded by Rashid (the best T20 player in the world at the moment) - which is the way you win T20 cricket.

They're not short on batsmen either and some danger men at that!

Looking at that opening game and in particular the Cape Town Blitz side, by my reckoning quite a few of the Cape Town side who are listed in top bat and ball markets at the time of this post are on duty with the Proteas in Australia :S

We will use this thread for the duration of the MSL tournament and all tips most welcome

I've had a look at Friday's opener and sided with Dawid Malan as top Blitz bat at 3/1. Apparently did well in the warm ups and not too many stand out contenders in Blitz batting line up imo

Earlier warm-up match saw AB score 93 off 31 and post 217. Stars ( without Gayle ) came up 5 runs short in the chase. Good enough for me in the outrights

Ive gone with Jozi Stars to win on Saturday.

Saw second part of opening game, AB was terrific but rest of Spartans team were disappointing.

Kinda regret going with Spartans outright now. If it was a race to King Pie, they would be 1/1

Well I knew the Spartans would be BIG but...
Still hoping they can get their act together. Expecting a big innings from Elgar.

Heat v Blitz
Blitz could catch the Heat a bit cold having had a chance to get out on the park on Friday. Blitz have some competent contributors rather than great batsmen. I'm still backing Dawid to come good today.
Amla the main man for the Durbanites but their bowling should be sharp with Merchant, Abbo and Vern.
Blitz top bat - D Malan @ 33/10
Heat top bat - Amla @ 3/1
Most sixes - Morkel @ 13/2 (I will wait till after the toss and try and get on if Heat bat first)

Heat (and my Albie most sixes play) get blown away by an incredible innings from Asif there. Reckon Morkel did a poor job as skip by not bringing the quicks back earlier. Oh well a 0 from 3 for my punts and now under pressure to nail something in the next.

Rocks v Spartans
Top Spartan bowler - Mendis @ 7/2
Top Rocks bowler - Patterson @ 33/10
Top Spartan bat - Elgar @ 4/1
Rocks bat - Henry Davids @ 33/10

I fancy Rocks to win the game against Jozi, see its around 8/10 now. Paarl got 200 runs under their belt at this ground in narrow defeat to a strong side and Jozi batting was poor in their first match.

Been raining and overcast in CPT all morning. Im sure Paarl has been similar, rain should clear up but batting wont be as easy as on Sunday. Tread carefully.

With the Dubai T10s starting, a lot of players will be unavailable. Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Dwayne Bravo, Cam Delport, Rashid Khan, Jason Roy are all missing around 4-5 games depending how far their teams go in the Dubai tournament.

Just seen the fixtures for the weekend and to my surprise, the blitz are playing 3 games in 4 days. Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday. Paarl to beat them on Sunday may be worth a punt.
On the other hand, top spot could be done and dusted come Tuesday evening if they somehow go 6/6

Amla hasn't hit his straps yet and reckon he prefers looking to find his feet in the first few overs whilst Van Wyk goes from ball 1.

Spin remains a big threat in PE but Dolphins guys should know Tahir well so staying clear of that market.

Jonker hasn't fired yet and Duckett wasn't great last time out, JJ can clear the ropes but also not in top form atm. Klaasen, Miller and Albie are serious hitters and the likes of Zondo, Van Wyk and even Vern/Maharaj can chip in.

Away Race to 10 Runs - Morne v Wyk over Amla @ evens
Heat most sixes @ 9/10
Heat to win @ 15/20 into a few weekend multiples

Ps: Oh and as a side note the Ngidi news has me well and truly off the Spartans in the outright market now as they were in serious need of his bowling to try and get themselves back on course.
