Wellington Phoenix vs Sydney FC

Phoenix are still not getting enough respect from the bookies, despite their evident improvement and good form.
They have now gone 9 matches without defeat, 5 wins and 4 draws, including an ostentatious 3-1 win away to their guests today, just last month.

Phoenix are scoring plenty of goals, home and away. In fact, in today's match we'll have the two leading goalscorers of the competition so far, Krishna and Le Fondre with 11 goals each.

Sydney have not been very convincing for the past one month, as they lost away to Perth (1-3), and had their share of luck to win tight matches at home (2-1 vs Adelaide and 1-0 vs Newcastle).

Sydney welcome back a few players, Brillante, Retre and Ninkovic, but they have quite a few players out through injury (Tratt, Van Der Linden, Buhagiar, Zuvela) or international duty (Grant).

Phoenix have the momentum right now, and after beating Sydney away last month, they will be confident in their chances at home.

I see goals at both ends and I'll take a stab at Wellington not to lose this match.

Bet 1: Wellington +0.25 @1.80

Bet 2: Over 2.5 & BTTS @1.83

Bet 3: Wellington TT Over 1.5 goals @2.20

Newcastle Jets vs CC Mariners

Both teams are suffering, the Jets on a 5 match winless run, far from the play-off spots, while the Mariners are still bottom of the ladder, but only 2 and respectively 3 points from the teams above them.

The Mariners have found some good form in their last two matches, as they beat Melbourne City at home and drew 1-1 with Brisbane Roar, also at home.
They should come into this match with good morale, but they have four unavailable players for this match.

Both defences are porous, the Mariners having the leakiest one in the league (34 goals in 14 matches), while the Jets defence is 4th from bottom.

Both teams are in desperate need of points, and a draw would not really help their situation.

I expect these teams to see their opponent as beatable and go at each other, so I'm going for goals in this match.

Bet: Over 2.5 goals & BTTS @1.95

Based on the desire they showed to twice come back against Southampton in last round I'll go with Derby at 0.87

Perth Glory vs Adelaide

Perth fired blanks last round, something that we are not used to. They also kept a clean sheet, in their away match to title rivals Melbourne City (0-0).
In November these two teams played in Adelaide and Glory won 2-0.

Perth are topping the league, while Adelaide are 6th on the ladder, but at a comfortable distance from the next team in the play-offs race (10 points).

Adelaide are coming after an away win to the Wanderers (2-1).

Adelaide matches aren't too overish, and they do have a good defence, third in the league, with the same number of goals conceded as their hosts today (16 in 14 matches).

Perth should win this one today, and they will certainly want to make amends in terms of their goal scoring abilities.
They have the most prolific attack in the league, so a bet on team total is in order.
I also like the corners bet because of the nice odds on offer.

Bet 1: Perth (-0.5) @2.10

Bet 2: Team Total - Perth over 1.5 goals @1.90

Bet 3: Total corners over 10.5 @2.10

FA Cup Sunday preview, Palace v Spurs

goodforthegame.co.za/English-Football/cr...betting-preview.html

Would normally wait until after Spurs match on Thursday night but reckon Palace can win this with Spurs having other priorities and key players out. Danger is Palace rest players too but second guessing they will field a strong enough side to win at 18/10

Chelsea v Tottenham

I only ever bet against Spurs for two reasons. As a sweetner to the disappointment of losing an important game and when I think they are massively up against it at a very good price. This is a combination of both. I posted last week that Chelsea were 6/4 to qualify ( there now 4/5 ) and put a substantial chunk on. Having just seen the team news I'm gonna resort to some sweet liquor to ease the pain but a couple of tips at small stakes

A goal in first 20 mins @ 2/1
Chelsea to win by exactly 2 goals @ 4/1
Chelsea to win and Giroud to score @ 9/4

Brisbane Roar vs WS Wanderers

These are two of the most porous defences in the league, with 32 and respectively 33 goals let in so far in 15 games.

They are far from the last play-off spot, 14 points, but with 12 games to play, fortunes could change quickly if they go on a winning path.

Roar are without 6 players today, 3 suspended and 3 injured.

The Wanderers welcome back their star Riera.
They have been very unlucky for quite a while now, and with Riera back in the team (he should be hungry for goals and should provide a good morale boost) the Wanderers should fancy their chances and score at least a couple.

Bet 1: Over 3.25 goals @2.00
Bet 2: Wanderers Team Total over 1.5 goals @1.90

Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne City

Phoenix missed a huge chance of climbing on the ladder a bit, when they failed to score from the penalty spot and thus got no points from their encounter with Sydney.
They now have a second consecutive home game, and with a bit more focus they could get all points.
They have the 4th most prolific attack in the league and they have Krishna, joint leading goalscorer in the competition.

Melbourne City have the best defence in the league, with 15 goals let in in 15 matches, but 3 of them conceded in last round.
However, they struggle in attack, as since they left Fornaroli out of the team, they haven't found that striker with a killer instinct, and their results have suffered.

Yes, they got some wins, but they were against the poorer teams, Brisbane, Wanderers, Jets, and they even lost to the Mariners.

Therefore, I think that Phoenix should be in with a better chance than the odds suggest.

Bet 1: Phoenix 0.0 @1.92
Bet 2: Number of goals - 2 or 3 goals @2.00

Melbourne Victory vs Sydney FC

Both teams have lots of players out.
Honda, as well as Ingham, Ansell and Niedermeier for Victory, while Sydney have 7 players out, with Caceres and De Jong injured last round.

Both teams have stingy defences, although Victory have the most prolific attack in the league (34 goals in 15 matches), while Sydney is third (28 goals in 15 matches).

Neither of these teams have been scoring many goals against the better teams in the league, only one goal, rarely two, while Victory had to dig deep in last round for a last gasp 3-3 equalizer at home against the surprise outfit, Wellington.

I expect a hard fought match with few goals, 2 or 3.

Bet: Number of goals - 2 or 3 @2.00

Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets

Perth fired blanks two matches in a row (0-0 away to City last week and 0-0 on Wednesday against Adelaide at home), so they should really make amends this time.
Last month Glory won in Newcastle 2-0.

Newcastle are not finding their last season's form when they had a chance to win the title and they are 8 points behind the first play-off spot.
Last round they struggled and had some luck too in their home win against the cellar dwellers Central Coast Mariners (1-0).

Glory are still top of the ladder, 2 points ahead of Sydney, and they should be able to take care of business this time, scoring at least a couple of goals in the process.
The Jets will probably score one too, as they have almost the entire squad available, and they do score goals away.

Bet 1: Glory win and over 2.5 goals @2.75 (local bookie has Glory win and over 1.5 goals @2.25).

Bet 2: Over 2.5 goals and BTTS @1.95

Crystal Palace v Tottenham

The previous 5 games between the two sides have all ended 1-0 to Spurs. You could make the case for another tight, low scoring game due to injuries and general priorities of both teams, but I think there could be a bit of value in looking at a few goals. I expect players like Foyth and Walker-Peters to start for Spurs so I wouldn't of thought grinding out a narrow win would be the way to go, especially as a draw would be a massive pain in the arse for both sides. Slightly speculative, but a couple at odds against

over 2.5 goals @ 6/5
Tottenham to score 2 or more @ 6/4

The over 2.5 was a bitter pill to swallow. Thought it was a shoe in , then Trippier stepped up.
