Right Gents - After a dumb error does The Vann give up on cycling - No.
Tomorrow sees the start of the Tour de Romandie with the Tour of Yorkshire starting on Thursday.
Tour de Romandie
Basics are a 3.9km prologue followed by four mountain stages and finishing on Sunday with a 17km ITT. Roglic is by miles the favorite. Previous winners are the likes of Roglic, Porte, Quintana, Zakarin and Froome. Nothing for me on the prologue but I quite fancy these odds on one of Brent's favorites - Reason for the long odds being that 17km final ITT.
Finishing Position 1-3
Woods @ 40/1

Tour de Romandie
Taking a few beers on the youngster who can time trial - looks like a real prospect and will probably not have to pull on the flats.
Outright Matchbet
Evenepoel over Grosschartner @ 14/10

Romandie "mountains" look more like hills barring the one day. Have read that Roglic is only seeing this as a pre Giro tune up and that the team could be pulling for Kruisjwijk. Thomas also still just getting rid of the cobwebs.

I'm taking Buchman to win overall @ 8/1

Discovered my matchbet went down the tubes before the start when Evenepoel came down while checking the prologue course.
Stage 2
Looks like a Thomas de Gendt profile @ 18/1

ITT over 17km today. Not yet fully fit but the shorter distance means he has a shot
Win
Thomas @ 11/2

Thanks Vann, was also looking at that and I also like Thomas, my bigger bet is Thomas over Roglic @ 14/10

Also taken 2 guys who I think a decent time trielists at decent prices:

Zakarin 100/1 and Place @ 15/1
Bodnar @ 33/1 and place @ 8/1

I was hoping for longer to back my normal man in Martin, but think this is a bit to short for him.

In these I miss the old swiss man in Cancellara. Almost a banker.

I just missed getting a bet down - will have to wait for in-running - I was going to have a nibble on De Gendt at 200/1

Man that Roglic is a machine. Smashed the field.

Great ride by Roglic. Unfortunately lost my pick in the team caravan last night when Thomas ( Who has previously refused to ride the Giro) was advised that he was replacing Bernal in the Giro. He produced a typically - "I am pissed off ITT"- which kinda confirms the lay of the land at Ineos.

Well so much for my thoughts on Roglic before this... Guy rolled out and gave all around him a sound beating!

People seem to be split on whether he is indeed the real deal or whether he still has to show he can produce over three weeks as he goes into the Giro as the heavy favourite. I can't wait to get stuck into some proper research of the parcours before nailing my colours to the mast. Can't wait boys!!

I think he proved at the Tour he was the real deal, going to be a very interesting Giro

Thinking of packing in rugby betting and focusing on cycling for a few weeks
