With football season finishing in England and SA and the IPL done this weekend signals the end of the busiest time of the year for me. A chance to put my feet up on a weekend for a change and I'm going to have a rare play on the horses.
I love to go to Fairview with my kids when on holiday in PE and whilst I'll be in front of the telly today, here's a few Mackem racing plays for the day. I'm not in the league of the esteemed racing punters on here but I've done some homework. Small bets, here's hoping I can fluke a winner or 2.
Race 1. Big Bay (9/2), good effort when 2nd last time out, 3rd run and prefer to side with course experience over the odds on first timer. Perhaps Rango at 25/1 to run into a place.
Race 3, Like the Smith runners Steady Breeze (15/4) and Alaskan Fate (5/1), torn between the the two of them so thinking swingers.
Race 5 Via Sacra (11/1) Looks like this one had problems at the start on last 2 outings, decent enough prior to that so could be a nice price if all goes well at the gates this time and Lerena riding.
Race 6 Percival (5/2), Has been to PE once before and won over C&D and gets 2.5 kg from the favourite, was hoping for a better price but I marked it before looking at the betting.
Race 7 Sailing Lizard 8/1 Another from Cape Town, has had a comeback run after a break, drawn 9 a worry even over 2400m, I think the draw is important in any race but preferred to the 2 market leaders at the price.
I'm not suggesting anyone follows those but thats my afternoon before following Sunderland v Portsmouth League 1 play off on text commentary.and some cycling

I have followed you in Race 5 - Not sure if thats a good thing for you or not.
Race 6 - Gone with local Omega Onslaught @ 10/1
Like your Percival but seen quite a few vistors beaten at Fairview. And if you take last run againest fav, has a 2.5kg swing for a 2.5l beating. Yes was over poly but Omega Onslaught has proven can run on Turf so worth ago.
Race 7 - Also like Sailing Lizard. Like Jockey booking and to my uninformed eye was impressive in Cape Season running some decent runs againest top 3 year olds. I also like Mercurana based on breeding but will wait to see how the 1st 2 go.
Turffontein - Race 3 - Marshal Foch @ 10/1
Gets decent Workrider and has fair form at Turfies. Also just been gelded which may make a difference.
