Thanks for preview Brent,

Taken 1 match bet today, Boasen Hagen / Impey @ 31/20 (Sunbet)
If it comes down to a straight sprint, I think EBH has the speed to beat him and he has shown he can get over the bumps.

Also taken some of Sonny Colbreli @ 100/1 Also can get over the bumps and not the worst sprinter, could pop up.

Enjoy the racing

Nice pick yesterday kcm. The podium place meant you were in the money.
The match bet double came in yesterday so we were marginally in the black and then the in-play call made it a good day. Today could again go either way so a few darts up front with 1/3 of days funds kept for in-play
Stage 14
Kragh Andersen @ 25/1

There is PROPER climbing today and this stage winner will be a real mountain goat. Given that half the stage is pan-flat one struggles to see a decent climber get away unless Jumbo really take the first 100km's off.

Really looking forward to todays racing, I have gone with the following:

G Martin @ 125/1 E/W
Yes he had that bad day but hoping it was just that, one bad day. If I remember correctly hadn't he had a fall earlierr that stage or the previous day, maybe he was a bit sore. Prior to that he was all over the front.
I have also taken him to finish ahead of Carapaz @ 22/10. I think Carapaz could be made to work for Bernal and if so won't necessary be at the busines end.
Romain Sicard @ 400/1 E/W
Last big mountian top finish he was up near the front and ahead of some contenders, so obviously feeling can climb. Also think his team may be looking for something as they have done nothing, and also taken him for the Polka Dot jersey.

I know optimistic but maybe again its the painkillers I am on.

Lets hope for a good day's racing

Here we go into the business end of the race lads!

Agree with Brent's chat. Roglic will be a touch concerned that Pogi has proven to be that one pesky fly who doesn't wat to go away. Plan A is to just ride all possible contenders into eventual submission along the way. Plan B is to build up a bit of a buffer from bonus sprints. This tactic has worked beautifully for Jumbo apart from one sole thorn in their side. As BG said Roglic might now actually be a touch worried that his countryman could sneak a few more seconds out of him and he doesn't want to head into that TT with anything less than a 30s buffer. Thus I reckon Team JV will be very happy to see a big break go clear.

So into the stage we go and just one little moan from my side as its disappointing to see the low odds offered by the bookies who are clearly not going to be taking any chances in this third week.

Benoot - I got him at 70/1 but have seen he has seriously shortened so probably wouln't take at current 30's.

Lutsenko - Probably the last stage which will catch his eye. In form rider. (28/1 - if you like Astana but want a big price back Gorka Izagirre @ 300/1)

Madouas - FDJ have had a mare and this stage suits Valentin best of the team imo (66/1)

Vuilermoz - Love his as a rider so dont want to see him win without my money. AG2R really need a pick me up (80/1)

Dylan van Baarle - Brent rightly expects a big stage from Ineos so why not go for the lad with the big price of 250/1!

By the bye Brent. Enjoyed the show - just a few points. The final 4km on tomorrow's stage is at around 11%. The 20% refers to the steepest ramp. For those considering KOM picks. If the points are allocated the same as last year then both of tomorrows HC climbs will be worth 40 points which means the KOM can still be won by someone taking the first climb from a break. I hear what Grootlem says about Sunweb and Hirschi. I don't believe a word of it. MS preached the same crap about Yates being here for stages only yet there he is only 2min behind on GC going into the final week. He is spot on when it comes to falls though. You just never know how much it will affect the rider and the team's are never going to tell you. I have to say - the books are annoyingly better these days. I could not spot any value in the long terms on the rest day.

My Porte outright was in big trouble there. Saved by some incredible sportsmanship by Roglic and his fellow Slovenian. Absolute thumbs-down to the two Spanish dicks Landa and Mas for trying to take advantage of a mechanical due to a very poor route selection for stage 18 of a Grand Tour.

Early outright heads-up. The KOM can only be won by three riders
Carapaz 74
Pogacar 72
Roglic 67
Points left on the Tour
Stage 19 One point
Stage 20 A Cat 1 climb with 10/8/6/4/2/1 points
Stage 21 A largely ceremonial Cat 4 with one point.
The Cat 1 points on Stage 20 are allocated in the ITT and are based on the time over the last 6km of a 36km ITT course. Now Pogacar and Roglic are committed to the fastest time they can produce over the 36km ITT whereas Carapaz can coast over the first 30km and spend 100% effort on the last 6km. There are also several riders who could go up that last climb pretty darn quick for eg Alaphilippe, Porte, Valverde etc.
I'm taking the old hail mary on
KOM

Good one on SKA Brent. Don't have all my plays for today but there is one bit of logic that has to affect a match bet - I have no doubt the late Nicolas Portal would have called it.
Carapaz lies 7 points ahead of Roglic on KOM. Roglic is expected to be fastest today and may collect the first prize of 10 KOM points. Kwaitowski goes off several riders before Carapaz so they don't know how Carapaz will go when Kwaito hits the climb. You definately do not want to slot a team mate in between Roglic and Carapaz as it could cost Carapaz the KOM jersey. I'm INEOS DS today I tell Kwiatkowski to take the climb slowly.
