As we build to the Giro next week we have the World Champs which are in Italy (late move due to Covid)
The mens ITT takes place today and at 31.7km it is the 2nd shorted in worlds history and given it is fairly flat it should be the shorted in terms of time.
It suits the riders with big engines and wind is also expected today although it looks fairly consistent so conditions will hopefully be similar for everyone.
Filippo Ganna the Italian who beat the likes of Dennis in a shorter ITT at the Tirreno just over a week ago is the 12/10 fav and he also podiumed in the World last year over a tougher course.
Dennis who bids for a hatrick is 2/1 and he has proven to be a master at leaking for this event.
Dumoulin and Van Aert are 8/1 and the only question is what the Tour took out of them - they both rode a great ITT but remember that is measured against other riders who are fatigued after 3 weeks and here they will be up against guys targeting this race.
Kung is 10/1 having left the Tour early and he looked very strong in some of the breaks he was in.
Campanearts 12/1 was closest to Ganna last week and Cavagna 14/1 looked very strong in stage 20 of Le Tour.
Thomas is 28/1.
My Bets:
0.5 unit Kung at 10/1 Sunbet - looks to have prepared well for this and should relish the course
2 units top 3 finish Ganna NO at 11/5 at Sunbet - have a feeling the pressure will get to him and while he can ride longer ITT's he would have preferred shorter. I think the time gaps will be small.
1u treble at 13/2 Sunbet - Rohan/Ganna x Kung/XCampenaerts x Affini/Van Emden
The ladies road race is Saturday and the mens Sunday and the road race terrain is totally different from the ITT.

Joining all with the e/w on Kung Also taking
e/w
van Aert @ 17/2

Stiffs on that Dennis treble Brent - Colour blind soigneur probably stuffed up the Dennis undies - did give me two podiums though. Will be footballing it tomorrow but the missus will have one TV on the cycling so going with a double for interest.
Deignan/Moolman into
van der Breggen/Borghini

Great ride Alaphilippe - a worthy wearer of the Rainbow Jersey
I think Slovenis set it up perfectly for Roglic but he just didn't have the legs today
Scraped a profit thanks to the double and a lay of Van Aert
Lost overall on the Worlds though as the ITT didn't treat me well
