MET RACECARD:
As usual there’s a cracking undercard on the day and i'm moving early in hope of getting the value on some of these -

K1
Not my sort of field with a boat-race between top 2 in betting. I’ll take a small interest on 1st time from Marshall yard who has a William Longsword making debut, could become a top sire and he did train WL. Speculative but no harm @ 16/1 ew. SAFE RETURN.

K2
Starboard been knocking loudly on door but skinny price. Prefer MADELINE 16/1 ew. Bred for more ground, got going late both outings over sprint, should be more at home this trip.

K3
SUPERIOR LEADER around 5/1 ew. Winner in last outing looks a good sort so no disgrace in 3rd, back over mile should suit. As a roughie ALINGALONGA 20/1 could surprise, 2nd run after gelding with more experienced jock aboard, did catch eye with improvement last time out.

K4
Try not to fall over when u read this, but DOUBLEMINT 25/1 ew. This field is loaded with front-runners / those who like race handy, so I’m looking for them to run each other ragged and a staying type like DM to mow them down. Given an easy ride when back on track last time out, just looks a race for an upset.

K5
Still mulling over this field, will add later.
Okay so HIGH HOSANA beautifully bred, short price filly taking on boys. Big money come for Marshall debutant as well. Not very confident this race but SHELDON 12/1 ew. Formlines franked x4 from debut win, moves to DK yard and clearly an early progressive 2yr old given pace around the tight Greyville bend in that win.

K6
Hard to look past KOMMETDIEDING but @ evens is he worth a punt? Prefer CRIMSON KING 16/1 ew weighted to places, mainly on excellent run to Sentbydestiny at Greyville in GR1, ran on strongly that day. Will forgive last outing after break and down in Cape for first time and gelding. Looks a lurker.

K7
CELTIC SEA 3/1 for me looks the right one, but this is her toughest test, the fastest horses on the continent as Justin Snaith says. Erik The Red obvious danger and well in at weights, if looking for a roughie I think TEMPTING FATE 22/1 ew could pop up (fellow punter KT mentioned this one when I asked him for a view on this race last week, and I tend to agree with him). TF back to the sprints, nicely weighted and Drier not running him in this for nothing. Is a tough race and even ELUSIVE TRADER 40/1 could be one for an even bigger upset if coming at them from the back.

K8
CAPTAINS RAMSOM all the rage and nearly shortest price on card around evens. Too skinny for me, can anything beat her? Clouds Unfold obvious one but had a few tough races of late. I’m going PRETTY YOUNG THING 16/1 ew on that 3rd in Garden Provence GR1 when right on top of Celtic Sea. Should be fitter after last outing and Cheyne knows her very well.

K9
See preview.

K10
KAMPALA CAMPARI 16/ew. Extended trip and a first time so far for a number of fancied runners here. KC gets treated better at weights for most of field on last outing and has won over c/d, with Lerena keeping the ride an interesting one. If at peak fitness I think he could run into the money.

K11
No bet yet, still mulling.

K12
Big money coming for Tarantino, I had REAL GONE KID as probably best bet on card, but big respect for TARANTINO who after reviewing his last run did flash home powerfully. Would go boxed exacta the pair, cannot see anything else landing a blow.

Race 4
Hudoo Magic hopefully has settled back into the Cape, distance will suit at 5/1.
Adding Capo de Cruz at 13/1

High Hosanna 14/10 a little skinny , but still a confident first choice.

Thanks Coil and South, great write ups and thoughts, I see we cross over with some of our selections which I hope is a good thing.

Race 1 - Seeking Peace @ 7/1
I am with Coil here, if you ignore last run where was backed and never pitched, if you use the Kwinta Light as the line horse, should finish ahead of Fav.

Race 3 - Dirty Martini @ 25/1
Drawn 1 and gets Champion Jock up. If you use 2nd last run behind Warrior should finish ahead of all fav's finishing only 2l behind Warrior. Last run drawn wide so hoping for a run for my money.

Race 5 - Kwinta's Light @ 8/1
Been fav last 2 runs and run second. On a line through Winter Mosaic holds the favorite. Hoping will get out better and will use light mass to its advantage. Concern about Jock as always struggle to catch him right but worth ago at that price.

Race 6 - Northern Song @ 40/1
Won course and distance, if either top 2 in betting fluff their lines, maybe can surprise. Like Coil I am hoping Kommetideng can pull it off.

Race 7 - Tempting Fate
Tempting fate as mentioned previously by South, got on earlier in the week.
My 2nd choice is the old top sprinter, Kasimir. Yes 1000m maybe a bit short but last time up showed well against Rio and Russet Air, and is getting weight due to conditions

Race 9 - Golden Ducat

Race 10 - Kampala Campari @ 16/1
With South and Coil on this one

Race 11 - Qaarat @ 10/1

Race 12 - Ticket to Ride @ 10/1

Hope you all enjoy the racing and hope one of us get a piece of the big Pick 6

A couple for Vaal:

Race 2 - Enrico Chechetti @ 40/1 & Military Quest @ 25/1
EC - 1st time having a go at distance and had some semi decent runs, stable in fair form.
MQ - Following Jock and has not the worst record at course. Fav looks hard to beat but taken weighted to places

Race 3 - Petunia @ 40/1
1st run was not that bad, drops back down and the Jock who beat the horse in 1st time up jumps up. Worth ago at those odds.

Will post anything else that jumps out later

Your Doublemint selection in R4 had me sweating balls South, would not have liked to lose in the 1st leg of a P6 already :).

Great call.

Great going South. I couldn't pick a winner in a 1 horse race today. LOL

In Sprint including Russet Air, drifted to 14/1 which I just think is way to big

short price favourite punters cleaning up today. Sadly and i think my fellow forumites are mostly cut from the same cloth as me, this tends to spell bad news for my racing punts. I simply don't like to go short, but in hindsight, maybe next time will take some accas on the hot-pots as a back up.

tough day, promising start then went downhill. The features did not run how i thought they would, pace and tactics were a bit strange at times. Not a Met day to look back at with too many fond memories!

Did my P6 in the MET. Backed Rainbow Bridge in every feature race since his appearance, yet not today...

Golden Ducat remains an enigma to me.

A couple for me today in early races:

Race 1 - Rock on Philly @ 12/1 & Sierra Del Torro @ 33/1
Both are very nicely bread and weighted for places.
Rock on Philly - Dam was very progressive as a young filly and Sire has produced some decent sprinters. Concern is stable normally brings them needing first time up.
Sierra Del Torro - Siblings have all bee very progressive and won early in career. Whilst doesn't look like stable elect, horses don't always know this

Race 2 - Namaqua Dove @ 16/1 & Ruby Sky @ 40/1
Namaqua Dove is extremely well bred. Concern is no money but hoping can surprise
Ruby Sky - Currently my favorite Sire in Act of War and Dam has produced some decent sprinters. Cartel Captain showed yesterday above average and on debut was some money and Dillon stays on it.

Race 3 - Izietsha @ 16/1
Top 2 look hard to oppose but on breeding been by Black Minnanloushe should enjoy step up in distance.

Enjoy the racing
