There is a high risk there will be no 'home' leg for liverpool @ anfield. So tonight, score 'away' from home is important for them, as could be playing in neutral country again for 2nd leg. I feel they will line up attacking tonight. Can't try and defend and hope to not concede with defensive issues we have. Need to score more than we let in.

Very pleased I am not a tipster and only post my bets. Could make a complete arse of myself this evening. I just don't see the goals predicted by one and all. Tuchel is a quality defensive coach as can be seen by the fact that he has halved the shots per match against since taking over from Frank. Last years final produced a meagre 5 shots on target. Barca have not been exactly prolific against any half decent opponent. Liepzig manage less than two goals per match in the Bundesliga and Liverpool can defend better than 90% of those sides. Liverpool can conjure up plenty of shots but as for goals - few and far between.

Southampton v Chelsea

Southampton:

Despite finding themselves mid table, it is safe to say the Southampton are in turmoil at the moment. Since beating Liverpool back in January, they have not managed to obtain a single point in their next 6 games! More worryingly is how weak their defence has been at the back, it has been absolute freefall! Having shipped a staggering 20 goals in their last 6 premiership games and only contributing a miserly 4 to their own tally, it is safe to say things are not well with the Saints of late!

Chelsea:

There were many that were quite critical (myself included) regarding the sacking of Frank Lampard. Never been a fan of constant re-arranging of furniture based on a few blips but I can see why it was done in the context of what Abramovich is trying to achieve at the Club. It’s never pleasant but that’s the nature of the beast in this game. That said, Thomas Tuchel has yet to put a foot wrong since taking over at Chelsea. Unbeaten in 5, obtaining 13 points and just as impressively, keeping 4 clean sheets. He has fast steadily put many critics to bed and despite this still being the honeymoon period , it does appear as though he has come at the right time for Chelsea.

Verdict:

Given the contrast in form that both teams are currently undergoing, I’m going to have to side with Chelsea to continue with their winning momentum here. It will be interesting to see if there will be some tinkering from Chelsea’s point of view given they face a stern test against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in the Champions League. Thomas Tuchel strikes me as the sort of manager that is very methodical in his ways though and will surely want to keep that winning momentum moving forward. They are also facing a side that is very much on a downward spiral and confidence will be tested once again. Starved of creativity as well as in the scoring department, tinkering or not…Chelsea should have enough to get the job done at St. Mary’s

Adelaide vs Central Coast Mariners

Adelaide are on a 3-match losing streak and they want to stop it tonight. Their coach said that in order to stop it, they have to go all out and attack. They have a leaky defence (14 goals in 7 matches) while the Mariners scored 14 in 8 matches.
The Mariners are top of the table with 6 wins and 2 defeats.
Adelaide are desperate to stop the skid, they'll go all out on attack, they may get the win or they may not, but it does look like goals.

Had a few large on the rugby today and got absolutely clattered. Teach me to bugger around where I should'nt.

Liverpool over 5.5 shots on target @ 9/10

I know Everton are crap at derbies but Liverpool have nil wins from their last five home matches. That Everton D/C @ 33/20 just looks too long. Will risk a half stake.
Main punt for the day - depending on team sheets is likely to be Fulham over 1.5 match goals.

Spurs 2 or more goals @ 11/8

I think it could be open, Reguilon is a massive attacking upgrade on Davies
