I'm starting the thread here as the NRL season has commenced.
This was a fruitful punting area for me last year. Hoping to spot more value plays again this year.
All tips welcome.
Good luck punters!

Storm and Rabbitohs kick it off on Thursday 11 March.

The new rule changes are going to be interesting, as they are all geared towards increasing actual playing time.
This will increase fatigue, especially for the beginning part of the season until the players get used to it and become fitter.

Historically Round 1 has not seen a lot of points in games, so value on unders is the play. However with the new rules there should be more penalties especially until the players adjust.

On the back of how the Titans ended the season last year and with their new signings, I will look to back them in Round 1 but only for smalls.

Titans -3.5

I'm not much for outright bets but this one looks interesting. Ryan is going to take over the kicking now that Cameron Smith has left and he normally bags a number of tries.

Papenhuysen top point scorer for the season @10

Also keep an eye out for the Dogs, they have the Panthers attack coach now and they were scrappy last year.

Like some other punters on this forum, I don't normally like to lock up my funds for such a long period with such low odds.

Another Round 1 punt for me...again not massive until I see the effects of the new rules etc:

Knights vs Bulldogs
Under 40,5 points

Historically been a low scoring affair + Round 1 scores leaning towards unders + no Kalyn Ponga for the Knights

Right there with you BB.

It's Bunnies all the way for me on the outright as well as Papenhuyzen for the points. I love the Sea Eagles wooden spoon play Kendolph - thats a solid value punt imo.

Nothing major for me in the 1st game. Just looking forward to what should be a cracking opener.

Correct.
And despite the fact that in the past the beginning of the season was low scoring, now it appears to be the other way around. High scores now, to become gradually lower, as the players get used to the rules and get fitter deeper in the season.

After an interesting week 1, we saw a lot of points even in the wet on Sunday.

Warriors showed history isn't being repeated as slow starters, Roosters were on fire against a Manly team that may finish bottom this year on that performance.

My strongest fancy of the 1st round Panthers over 12,5 miraculously didn't come through despite them absolutely smashing the Cowboys in the first half, everywhere except on the scoreboard. The Panthers did however show that they are still going to keep up their record of being impenetrable in the first 20 min. So first half unders on opposition points and tries looks a good play going forward.

My early interest for Week 2 is this...wrong favourite here.

Warriors +1,5

I like the Warriors too Zam, but I note Couch is in the opposite camp - which undermines my confidence somewhat.....

Have put Warriors +2 with Panthers, Rabbits & Chooks all to win @ 3.60

See the money is coming for the Eels, but I can't see them getting up.
Smaller play on Storm 1-12 @ 3.10

Parramatta Eels vs Melbourne Storm

Wet weather today here in Western Sydney (Bankwest Stadium), it rained all day, so I'm very tempted by the unders, especially in a match involving the Eels.
Hope for a wet, slippery, game-played-with-a-bar-of-soap shitfest.

Bet: Under 38.0 @1.81, Pinnacle.
Elsewhere Under 36.5 @1.90

Can't believe I'm backing the Titans giving up 8 points but they in theory should be kicking on this year and Brisbane look set to be poor again. Small enough bet though.

Some Rabbitohs -8 available which looks a cracking bet. Will be opposing the Sea Eagles definitely until Turbo is back, probably after as well.

Excellent call on the under Quil! Jeez what a game that was - unfortunately I dropped a packet on the Storm into quite a few multies!

Zam and BB I hear you guys on the Warriors but I like the Knights 6, 7 & 9 so will always be tough opposing them.

Rabbitohs to absolutely SMASH the Sea Eagles is my favourite play of the weekend lads.

A few mighty big caps this week which would often turn my head to the plus but like every week, opposing the Sea Eagles who will get a pasting if the Panthers raise their attacking game even a little bit.

Do think the Broncos can score enough points to keep the margin within 20.

Leaving Rabbitohs game for now.

Panthers -18
Broncos +20
Dragons +8
Titans +4

I'm in full agreement on the multi at lower minuses for Panthers/Rabbitohs/Storm...I also took it early in the week.
Also, overs points for all three favourites.

Panthers first 20 min concrete wall, won't be broken by this Manly attack.

Sea Eagles vs Panthers

1st half under 20.5 points
Panthers over 2.5 1st half tries
Manly 1st half unders points or tries

I also really like Cronulla, underrated this season IMO
Sharks -8,5
