Rugby Championship Round 4, Currie Cup Week 10, NPC + other rugby 2-8 September

It was a cracking weekend of rugby punting and the newsletter plays with only the Bulls costing us the acca - kicking myself for that one as there was forum support for the Lions

Here is the link to subscribe to the free newsletter bit.ly/bettingmail

Both Rugby Championship fixtures are beautifully set up after close games against the same opponents

Handicaps are out but I did mine on X before I saw them - comparison below and bookies in brackets

South Africa -5.5 (-5.5) v New Zealand
Argentina -2.5 (-4.5) v Australia

Currie Cup
The top 3 are settled with the Lions playing the Griffons and guaranteed a bonus point win over the Griffons, this will give them top spot with the Bulls 2nd and the Sharks 3rd
The winner of the Pumas v Cheetahs match will go through
Team selection will be key but I will have a go at the handicaps anyway - Given the top 3 can't go up or down they could play B teams or they could give their URC players a run - tread carefully

Griquas -3.5 v WP
Lions -52.5 v Griffons
Pumas -4.5 v Cheetahs
Sharks -4.5 v Bulls

I look forward to your thoughts

Jeez I will miss this Currie Cup!

This week the WP team news is crucial. I was expecting a bit more fire power to be announced from Province last week but thankfully they still got the job done. I'm hoping they ease another URC player or two into the mix this week but the Kwaste have looked good of late and if they use the same team this week it could prove to be a long old afternoon in Kimberley. I don't see the bookies giving us a WP plus here.

The Lions have been my darlings and the sky is the limit when they face the Griffons. Resting players for the knockouts shouldn't be much of a thing here as the likes of Morne vd Berg, Marius Louw, Nohamba, Ntlabakanye, Ruan Venter, etc are just likely to get more game time. But I don't like big handicaps like these so nothing major to look our for except perhaps Renzo to score five tries! Hahaha ;) (He is a hooker at heart Brent, I just know it!).

Pumas and Cheetahs should be tight as. How the "mighty" have fallen from last season... The Cheetahs have lost the plot completely and at home Jimmy's crew will be desperate. But again nothing major stands out on the cap.

The Sharks will blow the Bulls out the water. Under 7.5 handicap is a steal here. Sharks might add another URC player or two whilst it now seems unlikely that the Bulls are going to use the CC as a practice run.

Strongly agree on this, o56.5 @1.84 2u.

Both teams rotate heavily but plenty of firepower, plus Waikato keep Roe and Sullivan for the fireworks in the second half.

Was on Waikato over 4.5 tries, they score 3 in 21 mins in the first, chalked that as a W in my head and almost took a live 5.5 tries but held back. Absolute poverty!

Annoying start to the betting week.

For more pain I have taken o 61.5 in the bop v manawatu. I also have some manawatu +22. I am always iffy about turbos on the plus as they are the kind of team that can score 25 and still lose by 30

I have Otago +5 and North harbour + 7 also.

Currie Cup handicaps are out with WSB - their in brackets and not surprisingly some big differences with mine

Griquas -3.5 (+4.5) v WP
Lions -52.5 (-40.5) v Griffons
Pumas -4.5 (+1.5) v Cheetahs
Sharks -4.5 (+3.5) v Bulls

At this point I am going to an acca Griquas plus, Lions minus, Pumas and Sharks to win at 16/1 - here is the Code if you want to join me 15335600 - prices changing as we speak was 17/1 when I first typed this

Ladbrokes in Australia, Bet365 and Sportsbet don't have them yet. Same thing for us with Currie Cup, no markets yet, but that's what I've grabbed so far.

Bok and AB teams announced

Been some money for the All Blacks, handicap now generally -4.5 SA

The AB's without Clarke and Blackadder who for me were two of their strongest last week

Pollard in at 10 for the Boks and Le Roux at 15, Kolisi fit

WP Now -14 against the griquas. Also have another one from the English rugby league. Hull kr are playing Wigan tomorrow night and are getting a 6 point start. I’ll be taking this as they are the best side in the league at the minute. I had this as down as a close game with KR as slight favs. Wigan are a top side but not on the same level as previous years. Can see points in this one

Lions now -42.5 to -45.5 having opened -40.5

Griquas over 26.5 pts @ 5/6

Feel this is within range, as Brent says playing some good rugby towards end of season. A scorcher in Kimberley tomorrow.

In sadder news the Currie cup overs goldmine in recent weeks has landed me with a stakes limit with one UK bookie. Will have to hunt around more, such bollocks. If the UK bookies want to cover these games expect those more familiar with Currie Cup to take them on.

Something I have noticed a couple of times is that Betx have taken the call to set their own line on occassions rather than just follow the market.

They are -54.5 Lions ve the -45.5 at WSB and Pokerbet and a few weeks back they anticipated money and were 69.5 points v 64.5 points in a Welkom. match

Colomiers -12.5 ha @1.90 2u

In the always interesting Pro D2 I go with this line today. Before lineups I'd put this around 15 points difference, and Aurillac without Delarue, Rodgers, Nioradze, Manufetoa and Coertzen. Plus they lost a lot in the off season (Plantier, Palmier, Aucagne and Powell)

Colomiers full strength so going confident here. For me expected result should be around 33-15 so value in the home side.

NRL bet:

2 time defending champions Penrith Panthers need some points and some to get back to top spot in the league coming towards the end of the season as they will get more rest and favourable match ups in the playoffs. Going against the Titans who have nothing to play apart from not getting the wooden spoon.

Best bet for 2u:
Panthers over 6.5 tries @2.05 on bet365

POINTS! POINTS! POINTS! That's what my models are telling me for tomorrow's 2 Rugby Champ games. Will jump on both matches in singles with the overs. Can see all 4 teams scoring around the 30 points mark.

See both games being close at full time for the winner's market, with home teams just getting it. So no value for me tomorrow playing either handicap/winners market.

Love the Carreras match up tomorrow and confident in him dotting down.

Try scorer Nibbles:

Cortez Ratima (NZ) @ 4.5
Mateo Carreras (ARG) @ 2.75

Cheeky double paying 11.70
