IPL starts on Saturday 22nd March and will dominate the criket schedule over the next few weeks. We can use this thread for outright and individual match bets as well as any other cricket taking place outise India.

SRH v RR
In Hyderabad where matches averaged over 10 runs per over last season. SRH also set a new record for season sixes. They have added a middle order bat - Manohar - who may get a match. In the local T20's he registered almost double the sixes of the next best player. I don't think there is a sixes line that SRH cannot make. Shami looked refreshed in the Champions Trophy and back to his best. He virtually always gets one of the last two overs

Match wickets over 1.5 Shami @ 14/10
Days double SRH + MI @ 24/10

Expect a slow sticky wicket with spinners keeping the runs down. Dibbly dobbly like Curran could snatch a wicket or two. Do hope MI give Corbin a run out in Hardiks place. Be nice to see a guy who has worked that long and hard get a match. Have high hopes for my double to run into this march so just the one

Delhi Capitals 15/20 Lucknow Super Giants 23/20 in Monday's game at Visakhapatnam. A preview I read on Cricbuzz says this has been a high scoring ground in the past. LSG have a few seamers missing but some big guns with the bat. Top batter total over 69.5 was my first thought.

Tough call this one in my book although GT look to have the stronger batting line up. Both bowling attackes look useful though, taking a chance on unders on total 6's.

I was hopelessy wide of the mark on Monday with the sixes call, on to RR v KKR on Wednesday, KKR most sixes for me, 17/20 at Betway, just think they have more firepower.

Stiffs on the sixes Chris. I had the same bet in the PBKS v GT match and it finished 16-16. Go figure.

Wickets looking very similar to last season. Expect bowlers to be visiting sports psychologists for the rest of the year. Still on sixes for me. Hyderabad saw 30 in the first match here with SRH contributing 12. LSG managed 16 in there first outing. Line is surely too low

The big IPL derby. I expect more then 20 overs of spin today. The wicket will be prepared to suit the three CSK front line spinners. Usually easier to knock spinners into the crowd then to actually reach the boundary on the ground. Match fours it is then

Reading that 2 types of pitches at this venue and very contrasting in terms of how they play for batting so assuming GT will choose accordingly and perhaps go for the more bowler friendly deck. That's pure speculation my side but if so then top batter total under 70.5 comes into play

The three matches at Eden Gardens have produced 39/26/45 fours. The 26 came when SRH staggered to 120 all out and only managed 9.

Fancy LSG in the sixes market. They are 5/8 in sixes and 3/4 at home. DC have only won the sixes battle twice in their eight outings. Taking Thakur because we are on the red soil pitch and Arshdeep collected three wickets on this pitch earlier. Thakur has made the line 4 times in 8 outings but only 1 in the 4 matches here. He is an old favorite of mine and the odds are more then I would offer

Sometimes you get an IPL match and you just wish you were on the pre-match email list of requirements. Besides Markram no one could time a hit on the LSG side but DC batsmen had no problem at all. One of those watches where the hairs on your testicles curl, wither and die. When I get one of these I always see Coil in his 1st World War leathers dodging and diving the media

RR v GT
At Jaipur today where RR have only played two matches. Wicket has been OK producing 348 and 358 runs. The RR have lost 9 or 10 wickets in four of their eight outings so taking a GT bowler. Also think the sixes line may be a little low for GT. They have made this line in five of eight matches and the RR bowlers have not looked good this season. Archer's four overs probably good for four sixes.

Krishna @ 5/4

DC v KKR
Nothing stands out here. Was considering the 4's line at 31.5 but have been burnt too many times. Will therefor take a few beers on this exotic. DC have played three matches here and have had five players run out. In fact, of the 26 run outs in IPL to date DC have 7 of them.
Run outs over 1.5 DC @ 15/10

Wicket has not been good in Chennai and both the fours and sixes lines look long. Not in an unders mood today so a few beers heading to
Jansen match wickets. Quicks lead spin 35/31 here and prefer his odds to Ahmed and he is bowling at the weaker batting line-up. Mhatre is a 17 year old and opens the Indian U19 batting with the Viabhav youngster who smashed that glorious ton a few days ago. Pretty much also wants to knock everything out the park

In Jaipur today where an average of only 7 wickets per match has gone down so no bowlers. Really looking forward to seeing the youngster Viabhav bat again. GT v SRH
Very much depends on the toss this evening. Batting first is a distinct advantage. GT have managed 16/9/9/9 sixes in the four matches here to date. Twice batted second too so taking that. Wicket split here is 32 to quicks with spin getting 15. Odds a little short on Prasidh but he is quality and SRH are inclined to lose 8-9 wickets.

A little wear on the wicket which may assist spin but I'm still taking overs on the 4's. Last day match here saw 45 4's so the line looks light. Neither of these sides have lit up the IPL and KKR have lost 3 of 4 completed matches here so worth a sniff on RR.

This one could go either way. Middlesex made an outstanding start. And were as short as 1.12. I hedged some at that point.
Kent has fought back strong. Will be an interesting finish.

Annoying match that KKR v RR. Missed the boundaries by one and the double by 2 runs
MI v GT
My boundary lines only one out of books lines so too close. Yadav now 11 consecutive scores over 25 in the IPL. Pitch being used same as RCB + CSK matches. MI lost 9 and 1 wicket in those matches. Not great stats for a bowling pick so just a few beers on Krishna

Using the same pitch as the interrupted match where PBKS were 201/4 with 18 fours. My fours line here is 35.5 so taking that as my bet. Going to try the 17 year old again for a few beers as he whacked 94 off 48 last time out.

IPL will re-start on Saturday 17th May, RCB v KKR in Bengaluru. Rest of the schedule has been released up to the play offs, looks like quite a few neutral venues and I'm wondering if and when and for how long those international players who went home will return to the tournament. Can't see any betting, outright or for the next few matches yet which is understandable

Groundsman has had almost two weeks to prepare the wicket. Has been a heat wave in Lucknow so I expect a better pitch then we have had so far. I made 4's line 34.5 and 6's 16.5 based on expected conditions. 6's Line spot on but 4's line has been made in four of the five matches albeit by 0.5 in two of them.
LSG are the worst power play bowling outfit conceding 10.5 runs per over.

Two sides with nothing to play for - other then avoiding the wooden spoon - and at a neutral venue Delhi. My lines much the same as the books. I may consider a nibble on the over 18.5 6's based on the number of youngsters and newcomers who can whack the ball. RR did get 11 at this ground earlier and CSK managed 13 at Eden Gardens last time out.
For the time being just a beer or so on the 14 year old to be the top bat and a chap I had not seen before who gave us an 11 ball cameo with four 6's on his debut.
