The PGA Tour returns for one of its most well-known tournaments of the year, the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Players will make the trip to Arizona to play TPC Scottsdale which includes the Stadium set up around the “loudest hole in golf”, the par 3 16th.

The Course
TPC Scottsdale is located in the state of Arizona on the outskirts of the city of Phoenix. Located in the desert, the air is thin and the ball will travel a long way favouring longer hitters. There are not many hazards, and the fairways are wide with room for error.
Putting surfaces are larger than the average on tour, and water can be found on only 6 of the 18 holes. The par 72 plays 7,266 yards.
While length off the tee is an advantage Greens in regulation is an important stat and this weeks winner will likely be an excellent ball striker.

Im has got off to a strong start to this years PGA Tour season with two top five finishes in his first four starts. Im has also finished in the top 10 at the WM Phoenix Open twice in his last five starts and he will be one of the in-form golfers to watch out for this weekend.

Nick Taylor at 67.00
Taylor finished runner-up behind Scottie Sheffler at the 2023 WM Phoenix Open and then went on to do one better in 2024, winning the tournament. He already has a win under his belt which came at the Sony Open only a few weeks ago. With his hot start to the season, he stands a very good chance of defending his title come this weekend.

Sepp Straka at 41.00
Straka is the only player in the field to have already secured three top 15 finishes in this years PGA Tour season. His best finish was a win at the American Express only three weeks ago followed up by a seventh-place finish at last weekends AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Straka has not played in the WM Phoenix Open since 2022 and he had a poor record prior to that so will be relying more so on form rather than experience at the course.

Scottie Scheffler at 3.80
I started this preview trying to beat Scheffler and one of my selections can hopefully do it but I keep on coming back to the market leader. Scheffler finished 3rd here in 2024 and was going for a hatrick of wins. He also warmed up nicely for the event with a top 10 last week in his 1st start of 2025.
