BettingDiaryWe take a look at some of the betting options available to punters on Friday in our Daily Diary.

FOOTBALL

English Premier League punters can warm up for the weekend with a Championship match on Friday night between Derby County and the visitors, Cardiff City taking place at Pride Park. Derby have made a slow start to the season with just 1 win in their opening 6 matches and they currently sit down in 19th position, Cardiff are 6 places above them in 13th with 2 wins from 6 starts. Derby are 29/20, the draw 49/20 and Cardiff are 18/10 and as the pricing suggests we think this will be a very close game with the draw a big runner just shy of 5/2.

RUGBY

South Africa punters really enjoy the Mitre10 Cup and on Friday morning it is Northland at home to Canterbury. Canterbury haven't been at their best this season and missing many of their All Black stars, but they have shown signs of coming to form and they are (-22.5) favourites away at Northland. The Total Points line is set at 62.5 and we think that it is a little bit high and that going under 62.5 could pay dividends at odds of 9/10.

Friday means it is of course just 1 week till the World Cup Matches get under way with Japan against Russia and this is one of the games where bookmakers priced up early and have potentially been caught with our pants down. The early (-19.5) Japan has been snapped up and the handicap is now (-40.5).

CYCLING

The Vuelta a Espana continues on Friday with what looks a stage tailor made for a breakaway. Finding a winner in these stages is usually tough, but at the same time you more often than not get an excellent price about your fancy. If you prefer to wait until you see the competition of the breakaway in-running betting is available when the TV coverage starts. Most of the Classifications look wrapped up, but you can view all of the long term markets as well as the Stage winner and the Stage Match Bets at this link.

CRICKET

England were 271 for 8 at stumps on day 1 of the 5th Test against Australia, a test they have to win if they are going to draw the series.

A reminder that there are plenty of in-running options to bet on while play is ongoing and you can click on this link to access the odds once play has commenced.

Other in-running options this weekend are Golf where we have the European KLM Open and the Greenbrier Classic taking place on the PGA tour.

HORSE RACING

Local Horse Racing is in Port Elizabeth on Friday at the Fairview Polytrack. An 8 race card starting at 12h35 and scheduled to finish at 16h45.

Two horses we feel will be tough to beat run in the 5th race and 6th race respectively being In A Perfect World, Horse No. 3 in the 5th, currently priced at 16/10 and Brandina, Horse No. 6 in the 6th race, currently priced at 17/10. The double of both horses to win currently works out at just over 6/1.
