"Der Klassiker" takes centre stage in the Bundesliga this weekend as the top two teams in Germany – Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund – face off at the Allianz Arena on Saturday for the 133rd time!

 

With four games remaining this season, the arch-rivals are separated by nine points in the table. That means Bayern can wrap up the Bundesliga title with victory over Dortmund. It would be all the sweeter for ‘Die Roten’ fans if they can do so against their rivals and as Bayern are unbeaten in home league action since January, they’ll expect to end the evening celebrating one way or another.

 

Also instilling confidence is their record of seven straight home league H2H wins, with Bayern scoring 4+ goals in six of those fixtures. Thanks largely to the exploits of Robert Lewandowski, who has netted 32 goals in 30 league games this term, Bayern are the Bundesliga’s top scorers by some distance. After winning their last four league games while conceding just once, the stage appears set for them to complete a tenth successive top-flight success and the 31st Bundesliga title!

 

As for Dortmund, they head into Saturday’s showdown on the back of a 6-1 thrashing of Wolfsburg – with Erling Haaland bagging a brace. Although Haaland has spent much of the campaign sidelined through injury, he has still managed to chalk up 25 goals in 26 games across all competitions.

 

The BVB have lost just one of their previous nine Bundesliga encounters, picking up six wins and two draws along the way, but their stats against Bayern might just wipe out all existing confidence, as Dortmund have only managed to win one of their last ten Bundesliga games, suffering nine defeats in the process.

 

 

When you consider Bayern’s dominance in this fixture in recent years, all the signs point towards a comfortable home win on Saturday and the next title party for the German giants.
