Football ManCity120English Premier League continues in midweek and @Olimp_SA have a preview including betting tips for Arsenal v Newcastle, Crystal Palace v Spurs and Chelsea v Manchester City

2023 is coming in hot and fast with some eye-grabbing Premier League fixtures! It can be easy to lose track with so many games, so we`ve put together our top picks for the mid-week action!

Tuesday – Arsenal vs Newcastle United

The 2 title challenging teams clash heads on Tuesday night in a highly anticipated fixture. Arsenal closed their 2022 calendar year on a very positive note – beating Brighton in a comfortable 4-2 victory. With Manchester City dropping points, the Gunners now have a very strong 7-point lead going against a high-flying Newcastle side. One thing for certain is that Arteta has found a brilliant and a dangerous combination upfront with Saka, Nketiah and Martinelli, with Odegaard in behind and considering their blistering form and ability to effortlessly find the back of the net, we think we can expect over 2.5 goals in this fixture.

Newcastle ended-off 2022 on a less favourable note – being held to a goalless draw by Leeds. Nevertheless, their impressive unbeaten streak is yet to be stopped as the Magpies have now avoided a loss in their last 16 games across all competitions. Their biggest challenge of the season will be on Tuesday night, but they have built a strong foundation to be considered as a true test for the title-chasing Arsenal side. With both teams displaying attacking powers, we think that backing both sides to score is fair, although picking a winner might be a bit more risky.

Total goals (2.5) – 1.79     |     Both teams to score yes – 1.74

Wednesday – Crystal Palace vs Tottenham

Crystal Palace secured a needed victory against Bournemouth on the day of New Year`s Eve, breaking their 2 Premier League game losing streak. Patrick Viera has been having a hard time escaping the bottom-half of the Premier League table, having played quite inconsistently in their recent games, losing 3-0 to Fulham and 1-0 to Nottingham. Although they seem to be the underdogs in this fixture, the history begs to differ as the Eagles proved to be somewhat of a challenge for Tottenham, having 1 of their last 5 games and drew 2 of those. Only 2 of their last 5 meets ended in under 2.5 goals, and with both sides` showing weakness in their backlines we think over 2.5 goals is a good option for this fixture.

Tottenham have let their focus slip and have themselves slipped outside of the Premier League`s Top 4. Salvaging a draw against Brentford on their World Cup break return, we`d expect Conte`s to get a reaction from his players, but they went on to lose 2-0 at home to Aston Villa, who are in 12th place. Spurs won just 2 of their last 5 games and a London Derby is not the pressure they`d prefer when trying to stabilize the ship. Although they are still the favourites in this fixture, their sloppy backline has been a problem, which may give Palace the gaps they need to keep Spurs from all 3 points. A draw or Tottenham would be a fair market.

Draw or Tottenham Hotspur – 1.36     |     Total goals (2.5) over – 1.90

Thursday – Chelsea vs Manchester City

All eyes will be set on Stamford Bridge on Thursday night for a clash not many will want to miss. Things are looking a bit grim for Chelsea as they sit in 8th spot with 7 points away from the Top 4. It seemed as if they were getting back to winning ways after breezing past Bournemouth with a 2-0 win, but Potter`s side was stunned yet again as Nottingham held them to a 1-1 draw on the first day of 2023. Still, with a game in hand a win against Manchester side might just change the tides for the Blues. You always have to consider the rivalry factor in games like these, but even that may not be enough for Chelsea to secure the needed outcome as they have only won 2 of their last 5 meetings, with the Citizens having won the last 3, and kept a clean sheet. We think this clash will be a tight affair as well, similar to the last 3 with under 2.5 goals.

Manchester City dropped behind even further in the title race, after taking just 1 point against Everton in their 1-1 draw. Pep Guardiola did admit in his pre-match conference that the Toffees would be tough challenge, and they delivered just that to the hosts. Still, Man City created more than enough chances to walk away with a comfortable lead and we don`t think the drop in points should be a cause for concern in the long-run. Clashes against the big rival sides most of the times tend to be cagy affairs and we don`t think we will see a goal-fest on Thursday, however, considering current forms, Man City would be our side to back on the night.

Manchester City to win – 1.68     |     Total goals (2.5) under – 2.06
