Arguably the most anticipated fixture of the 2021/2022 season is set take place tomorrow night at the Stade de France as Liverpool and Real Madrid clash heads for the prestige Champions League title!

Liverpool`s season has been one to remember and resulted in the English side going into the fixture as the favourites. Although the Reds have missed out on the Quadruple thanks to Gündoğan and Rodri`s late goals on the dramatic last match day of the 2021/2022 Premier League campaign, they can already be proud of their season with the EFL Cup and the FA Cup to their names with all focus now set on potentially their 7th Champions League trophy. Liverpool would`ve not forgotten the 2018 final where Madrid secured the Champions League trophy with a 3-1 victory and the animosity and the thirst for revenge will certainly be a motivating factors for the Scousers.
Furthermore, Klopp`s side are going to Paris on the back of 18 games across all competitions without a loss. Some could argue that Liverpool had an easier path towards the final than their opponents facing Villarreal, Benfica and Inter Milan in comparison to Real Madrid`s challenge road consisting of Europe`s heavyweights like PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City. However, this should not be an indication of the proceedings as the likes of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Luis Diaz & Co., have proven to all of us that they are capable of causing damage even to the strongest sides this season.
Real Madrid
The continental veterans Real Madrid are now aiming for their 14th UCL crown and to their advantage Carlo Ancelotti & Co. are no rookies to the Champions League Finals. As previously mentioned the Los Blancos displayed admirable performances this season on their path to the Champions League final, showing PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City the exit door and deserve a round of applause. Additionally, we have to treat Karim Benzema to the same appraisal as the French 34-year old striker has been the heart of Madrid`s attack, scoring 15 goals in 11 Champions League games this season and will certainly keep Liverpool`s defence on high alert on Saturday night. Real Madrid won just 1 of their last 4 league games, but this should not be looked into too much as it is clear the Madridstas took their foot off the gas and began to prepare for the UCL Final after securing the La Liga title with a handful of games to go. However, they have failed to keep a single clean sheet in the Champions League knockout stages and there are certainly a few defensive leaks that will require Ancelotti`s attention. Nevertheless, Real Madrid have proven to us this season to never rule them out early with a number of “comeback” performances and Liverpool will have to perform in the highest gear for the full duration of the game even if they take the lead if they want to sink the outstanding Madrid outfit.
Verdict
This is a very difficult game to predict a winner. The frontline of Benzema, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo will have every defence in Europe on nerves, but so will the Liverpool trio of Salah, Mane and Luiz. Similarly, both sides have exceptional talent within their midfields and backline and there is very little to separate the 2 sides on paper. However, Liverpool does have a slight edge over the Los Blancos as their backline has been slightly shaky in the 2021/2022 Champions League campaign. Nevertheless, this game will certainly keep the viewers on the edge of the seats and is promising a cagy affair in Paris.
