NRL ROUND 4 – THURSDAY & FRIDAY MATCHES

Round 3 treated us extremely well with only the dramatic capitulation of the Raiders costing us a bit. Unders in Penrith cruised in whilst the Eels, Dragons and Broncos all came to the party nicely. Xavier Coates and Cody Walker put the icing on the cake for a terrific week’s punting in the NRL. Let’s take a look at all the action coming our way over Easter weekend.

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Thu 01 Apr @ 11:05, Manly

Manly’s nightmares continued last week as this time it was the Dragons who gave them a roasting. The worst possible news for the Sea-side strugglers is that they now have to face the top dogs of the NRL. The Panthers haven’t really shown their teeth on attack but the men in black have been ruthless when it comes to defending their line. It would be one of the bigger April Fool’s jokes in memory if the Sea Pigeons are able to bother this military-like defensive set-up of Penrith.

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Fri 02 Apr @ 07:05, Sydney

Canterbury have made a dog’s breakfast of their 2021 start finding themselves way down in 15th spot on the table. The Bulldogs peed like puppies over the past fortnight delivering a grand total of zero points. Souths are fresh off a victory over their arch rivals and starting to find their attacking flow. It will be a long day at the office for the home side. The Bunnies are sure to deliver something sweet for their fans on Easter Friday.

MELBOURNE STORM vs BRISBANE BRONCOS – Fri 02 Apr @ 11:05, Melbourne

The Storm got pipped at the post in an arm wrestle in Penrith last week. This time around it is far from a final rerun as the defending champions find themselves back at home squaring off against a Broncos side who are showing glimpses of raising their heads. Papenhuyzen should be back for the Storm whilst the Queenslanders will have Payne Haas in their ranks for the first time this season. The Storm were all lightning and thunder in their opening half hour in 2021 but have only produced a soft drizzle since then. The Broncos did the business for us last week but I don’t quite trust them just yet. A more exotic approach for me in this one.

BETOLIMP BETS

Double: Panthers -12.5 onto Rabbitohs -15.5 @ 2.03 (Best Bet)

There is such a big gulf in class between the Panthers and Rabbitohs compared to their opponents for the weekend that I find this a top bet.

Under 43.5 points in Storm vs Broncos @ 1.88

The Broncos have looked better but are still far from sharp. The Storm know how to get the job done but aren’t operating at full attacking tilt at present.

Round 4 Exotics:

Sea Eagles vs Panthers

Villiame Kikau to score two or more tries @ 9.00

Anytime Tryscorer – Brian To’o @ 1.72

Bulldogs vs Rabbitohs

First Bulldogs Trycorer – Kyle Flanagan @ 17.00

Rabbitohs -27.5 @ 2.70

Storm vs Broncos

HT/FT Margin: Broncos (1-8) / Storm (13+) @ 21.00

First Tryscorer – Xavier Coates @ 21.00

Last Tryscorer – Tevita Pangai Jnr @ 51.00
