nrl 2Couch Critic previews the NRL matches taking place on 20th and 21st March including his best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA

Four tries in the last quarter cost us the points play in the Sharks game whilst three scores in the same period wasn’t enough to get the overs in Canberra. The Titans were a no-show which hurt badly and it was only a treble that saved us from disaster in Round1.

Let’s take a look at the weekend fixtures for Round 2 of the NRL as I look to bounce back!

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS vs PENRITH PANTHERS – Sat 20 Mar @ 06:00, Sydney

The Bulldogs will need to find much more bite as the Panthers will rip them to shreds if they pitch up like the docile lap dogs they were in Round 1. The Panthers weren’t at their full ruthless attacking best against the Cowboys but still put on a defensive masterclass. Canterbury will probably take a few more weeks to start hitting their straps and they will do well to keep this one tight.

MANLY SEA EAGLES vs SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS – Sat 20 Mar @ 08:30, Manly

Manly got schooled against the Roosters last week. The Rabbitohs never had a chance to pull any tricks out the bag in Round 1 as the Storm hit them hard early doors. This week I expect the bunnies to come bouncing back with their full attacking skills on display against a limited Sea Eagles outfit ready for the taking.

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS vs ST GEORGE DRAGONS – Sat 20 Mar @ 10:35, Townsville

The 2021 Cowboy’s campaign got underway with a whimper rather than a bang last week. With firepower in the form of The Hammer, Thirsty, Val Holmes and the prolific Feldt few would expect this Queensland side to be handed a donut. Expect the Cowboys to step up to the plate in front of their homes fans (they surely can’t be as poor as they were in their opener) this week and find their range against a Dragons side keen but not quite competent.

WEST TIGERS vs SYDNEY ROOSTERS – Sun 21 Mar @ 07:05, Sydney

After a solid first half the Tigers fell away against the Raiders in Round 1. Facing a Roosters outfit who go their confidence right up with a hammering of the hapless Sea Eagles will be a tough task for the men from the West. I don’t see the Tigers having enough weaponry to duel it out with the Tri-Colors but they will surely go down fighting.

CRONULLA SHARKS vs CANBERRA RAIDERS – Sun 21 Mar @ 09:15, Sydney

The Raiders struggled out the gate somewhat in Round 1 but got the diesel engine going in the end. The Sharks were able to put five tries past the Dragons and won’t be a walk-over for the visitors. The Raiders have too much quality to be toppled by a Cronulla side who have struggled against the bigger sides on a consistent basis.
