NRL ROUND 11

Round 10 proved to be pretty magical for us. Fortunately I steered clear of the Knights and after that the main preview picks delivered a five from five winning ratio. The exotics didn’t quite get the memo that this was a winning weekend but a Cody Walker double ensured the more speculative plays didn’t eat into the profits made form our main plays. Let’s try and keep the good times rolling as we move away from Brisbane and into Round 11 of the NRL action.

COWBOYS vs KNIGHTS – Thu 20 May @ 11:40, Townsville

Newcastle were like a ball of yarn last week – purely there for the cats to toy with. They truly are a different side when Ponga isn’t there to spark them creatively. The Cowboys almost look set to pull a rabbit out the hat in Magic Round when they stormed back from letting in four Rooster tries in the opening half hour last week. A score of 18-0 turned into 18-16 before the Tricolours were able to recompose themselves and put the finishing touches on their opponents. Despite their loss in Round 10 the North Queenslanders look to be the team on the up at present.

WARRIORS vs TIGERS – Fri 21 May @ 10:00, Gosford

The Warriors ensured a dismal opening quarter against the Eels last week and could never fully recover from being 24-0 down early doors - like a government official caught doing underhanded things they refused to go down silently and put up a heck of a fight. The Tigers have proven capable of running in some good tries when they find their range but one has to feel the Kiwi’s should be able to get the job done in this one.

SHARKS vs DRAGONS – Fri 21 May @ 11:55, Sydney

The Dragons got back to winning ways in Round 9 and held their own for large portions of the Storm game (14-10 at the break is a decent effort). But the loss of Matt Dufty will be a big blow for St George’s. Off the back of a Round 9 thumping (and their fifth straight defeat) and then going down 20 zip to the Bunnies things looked to be hanging by a thread for the Sharkies. Cronulla did however show some fight with Matt Moylan in fine form. I don’t trust either side at present but Shaun Johnson has a chance of playing whilst the Dragons will have a touch less fire without Duffty and Ravalawa. Time to get back in the water and back the Sharks.
