SUPER RUGBY – The Finals on 08 May

It’s been a crazy rugby season but thankfully the Super Rugby across the ditch went down without too much of an issue. Many would have been able to boldly predict the Crusaders, Brumbies and Reds to be involved on the last weekend but in between the rollercoaster has been cobra-like. Let’s try and call a few things right to finish the Super Rugby season.

Crusaders vs Chiefs – Saturday 08 May @ 09:05, Christchurch

Like finding Faf du Plessis with his shirt off or Ronaldo with his shorts rolled up it was always a given that you would see finals footing taking place in Christchurch on this final weekend of the comp. Surprisingly the side known as arguably the most dominant sporting team in sport went on a three-match losing streak during their campaign yet still secured the top spot on the Aotearoa log. The Chiefs enjoyed a strong second half of the tournament and will be traveling to Crusader country with their tails well and truly up (like a D Mac mullet!).

The Chiefs will roll out a solid side that won’t have to take a step back when measured against their hosts when comparing them from a talent perspective. This is far from an invincible Crusaders outfit but at the end of the day winning at Orange Theory stadium and lifting the trophy is what these lads in red do.

Betolimp Bets:

Chiefs to lead at half-time by 1-8 points and Crusaders to win by 13 or more points @ 21.00

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a fired up young Chiefs side hit the ground running only to run out of puff against the diesel engine that is the Crusaders.

First Tryscorer: Pita Sowakula @ 29.00

Big Gus might be on the side of the scrum this week but I am sure the Chiefs will look to get him carrying the ball with regularity. Get over the line big boy!!

Last Tryscorer – Brodie McAlister @ 15.00

A bit of rolling thunder to end the NZ rugby season – why wouldn’t yah mate?!

Anytime Tryscorer: Codie Taylor @ 2.50

Still kicking myself for not backing Cody pre tournament. The best hooker in world rugby at present in my view and worth backing him to add a final meat pie to his tally.

Reds vs Brumbies – Saturday 08 May @ 11:45

Despite taking their eye off the prize in the last game of the comp the Brisbane side have comfortably been the best team in this tournament which has often failed to produced to a high level. These sides met in an epic battle a month ago and should prove a good final to watch. The Brumbies have the personnel to get the job done but the Reds have been hotter than a Scarlett Johansson photoshoot during 2021 and I won’t be opposing them on Saturday.

Betolimp Bets:

Jock Campbell (Reds) to score the first try and Reds to win @ 17.00

Despite a hooker and a prop being the two leading tryscorers for the Reds they are a total rugby type of side and won’t shy away from giving the ball air against the Brumbies.

Brumbies to lead at half-time by 1-8 points and Reds to win by 13 or more points @ 34.00

The Brumbies will prove tough to break down but if they start to suffer due to a strong Reds finish they could throw in the towel in the final few minutes of the final.

Last Tryscorer: Filipo Daugunu @ 11.00

Daugunu is a dangerous finisher who will fancy having a go against tired bodies late in the piece.

Best Bet Double for Super Rugby: Crusaders onto Reds @ 1.86
