CRUSADERSCouch Critic previews Hurricanes v Force and Waratahs v Crusaders in Trans Tasman Super Rugby Round 3 including best bets and tryscorer specials with @Olimp_SA

The Highlanders & Waratahs double came in nicely for us last week and the big man Aumua getting the meat pie ensured a solid weekend in this comp. Let’s go hunting for some more winners!

Before I get into the games I think it’s worth stating that the Trans-Tasman comp has been a humbling experience for the Aussie sides thus far. It’s been the teams who weren’t involved in the finals (Force and Waratahs) who have been able to keep things tidy thus far whilst the champion Reds are yet to cover a handicap. As Brent Graham put it – it would be quite the tournament if we get a team (or teams) winning all five their matches but still not making it to the final as seems quite likely with a few of the Kiwi sides! Alas, I feel the men from Down Under once again find themselves prone over a barrel with their pants around their ankles and another raunchy weekend looming…

Hurricanes vs Force – Friday 28 May @ 09:05, Napier

The Force have made their first trip down to Kiwiland in a long time for this clash. The colder weather in Napier might have been a shock to the system but if this is the only aspect that will have the visitors from the West Coast of Aus uncomfortable this weekend then they would have done well. The Argentine connection runs deep this week for the men in blue with Cubelli and Miotti starting as the nine-ten combo. For the Force to be successful however it might be more important for their other Argie – Santiago Medrano – to vamos and get his team on the front foot.

The Force have held firm thus far but we all know the Hurricanes can rip you to shreds if the mood hits. They may not be playing at the Cake Tin but I just don’t have the balls to go against the likes of Jordie, Rayasi and Laumape with too much dough.

Betolimp Bets:

Force over 15.5 @ 1.77

The other Savea is back this week and I’m looking to get involved in his return.

Anytime Tryscorer: Peter Umaga-Jensen @ 2.62

Last Tryscorer: Ardie Savea @ 17.00

Waratahs vs Crusaders – Saturday 29 May @ 07:05, Wollongong

The Tahs leave the SCG behind and head to Wollongong to host the mighty Crusaders. The cap has been set mightily high but given the calibre of opponent making the trip one still can’t cockily laugh in the face of the bookies before a ball has even been kicked in anger on Saturday.

Given the fact that bonus points (and probably also points difference) could become vital when determining the finalists it means that the Aotearoa champs have selected a sparkling side to take up the battle at WIN stadium. Unlike some of the other Aussie sides the Waratahs have shown they know the way to the tryline in this Trans-Tasman comp but on Saturday they will also have to show some resolve on defence or we could be taking out the cricket scorebook yet again.

Betolimp Bets:

Mo’unga is walking on water at present whilst the Waratah props have had a knack of getting over the whitewash.

First Tryscorer: Whetu Douglas @ 21.00

First Waratahs Tryscorer: Angus Bell @ 29.00

Anytime Tryscorer: Richie Mo’unga @ 2.02

Last Tryscorer: Nathan Vella @ 17.00
