BettingDiaryThere are 2 DSTV Premiership matches taking place in midweek and we look at each of them from a betting angle.

Both these sides are struggling towards the bottom of the log with Marumo Gallants currently 15th on 8 points from 11 matches and they are 1 point behind TS Galaxy in 13th with Galaxy having played a game more.

Last time out Gallants held Maritzburg United to a goalless draw at home, but they have only won 1 of their last 10 matches and that was a surprise 2-1 away win over SuperSport United in their penultimate start. Gallants have yet to win at home this season.

TS Galaxy have only won 2 matches out of 12, but they have both come in their last 4 starts, home wins against Swallows and Baroka. Last time out they played to a 2-2 home draw against Cape Town City and their last away game was a 2-1 defeat to SuperSport. TS Galaxy have lost all 5 of their away matches this season.

A quick look at the goal stats shows Marumo Gallants home games averaging 1.6 goals each and TS Galaxy away games have averaged 2.8 goals each with most of those coming for the opposition.

Marumo Gallants 31/20

Draw 37/20

TS Galaxy 23/10

Suggested Bet: Marumo Gallants win at 31/20

While both of these sides are struggling I am basing this bet on the fact that Gallants beat SuperSport United two games back and also the fact that Galaxy have a terrible record on the road.

Pirates are currently 7th on the log and while they have lost just 1 of their last 7 games they have had 4 draws in that time. Last time out they beat Stellenbosch 3-0 on the road and their last home game was a 2-1 win over Sekhukhune. Pirates home games have averaged 2.4 goals each and had you been backing over 2.5 goals you would have only collected profits in 2 of the 5 matches.

Baroka are sitting just outside the relegation zone in 14th place on the log with 8 points from their 11 matches. They have now gone 7 matches without a victory and are coming off back--to-back defeats, 3-2 away at Arrows and 1-0 at home to Chippa United. They have yet to win on the road in 6 attempts with just 1 point from a possible 18 and Baroka’s away matches averaged 2.7 goals each.

Orlando Pirates 6/10

Draw 3/1

Baroka 5/1

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Orlando Pirates (-1) at 2/1

I was really hoping the bookies would be dangling anything around the 8/10 mark, Orlando Pirates and if that was the case I would have got stuck in. They are a bit shorter than that though and that has me leaning towards the Handicap which at more than 3 times the win price, I think offers the better value.

Pirates really impressed against Stellenbosch and they play against a Baroka side which has been absolutely nowhere on the road and I think we are looking at a comfortable home win here.
