We take a look at 3 of the DTV Premiership matches taking place this weekend and suggest a bet in each of them.
I would normally begin this preview with a look at the latest Outright Betting, but with Mamelodi Sundowns now trading as 1/66 to defend their title it might be time for the bookmakers to start pricing up on betting without Sundowns.
FRIDAY
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS v ORLANDO PIRATES
This is the match of the weekend and pits log leaders, Sundowns against 3rd placed Pirates. Sundowns are currently 15 points clear at the top of the log and Pirates are 16 points behind the defending Champions.
Sundowns beat Baroka 2-1 at home in their last start, their third consecutive victory and they have yet to taste defeat in 16 games this season and they have won 8 out of 9 matches at home.
Orlando Pirates have lost 2 matches of the 16 they have played this season and although undefeated in their last 6 games they have only won 1 of their last 4. Last time out they drew 1-1 at Swallows and while they have only lost 1 match on the road in 9 attempts they have drawn 6 of those games.
Sundowns home games have averaged 2.7 goals this season and Pirates away games have averaged 1.8 goals.
Sundowns beat Pirates 2-0 away from home earlier this season and they also won this fixture 1-0 last season and they have beaten Pirates in their last 3 League matches.

Mamelodi Sundowns 9/10
Draw 9/4
Orlando Pirates 7/2
Suggested Bet: Sundowns win at 9/10
Sundowns just look a cut above all the other sides at the moment and although Pirates are playing some good football I can’t resist the price of 9/10 about the runaway leaders.
SATURDAY
CAPE TOWN CITY v SWALLOWS
Cape Town City are currently 10th on the table and they are undefeated in their last 5 games with 4 draws and 1 victory. Their last 2 matches have been goalless draws away at Marumo Gallants and Baroka, while their last home game was a 3-2 win over Maritzburg United.
Cape Town City home games have averaged 2.6 goals each and they have only lost once on the road in 7 matches this season.
Swallows have climbed up the table slightly and currently sit 13th on the log with 2 draws, a loss and a victory in their last 4 starts. Last time out they drew 1-1 at home to Pirates in a Soweto Derby and Swallows have only won once on the road this season in 7 attempts.
If you have been looking for entertainment when watching Swallows away games you would have been disappointed as their matches averaged just 0.9 goals each with 6 of the 7 games landing profits for under 2.5 goal backers.
These sides played to a goalless draw earlier this season and last season this particular fixture finished 1-1.

Cape Town City 21/20
Draw 9/4
Swallows 3/1
Suggested Bet: The draw at 9/4
I can’t resist anything above 2/1 in this market as both sides have played a high percentage of draws of late and the head-to-head form suggests a tight match which may well finish all square.
SUNDAY
ROYAL AM v KAIZER CHIEFS
Royal AM are travelling well and currently sit 4th on the log but, they have only taken 2 points from the last 9 they have played for. Most recently they played a goalless draw at home to Golden Arrows and overall at home they have played 8, won 5, drawn 2 and lost 1 and digging into their goal stats at home, 4 of the 8 matches would have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers, but their last 3 home games have all finished with 2 goals or less in them.
Chiefs are currently 2nd on the log and in their last 5 matches they have won 4 and drawn 1. Last time out they beat Sekhukhune 2-0 at home an indication that the Chiefs camp has recovered from the COVID cases that forced them to postpone two matches.
Chiefs have only lost once on the road in 7 matches this season and they have won their last 3 on their travels. Chiefs away games averaged 1.7 goals each with only 2 of the 7 matches reaching the 3 goal mark.
Royal AM hammered Kaizer Chiefs 4-1 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Royal AM 9/4
Draw 22/10
Kaizer Chiefs 27/20
Suggested Bet: Kaizer Chiefs win at 27/20
Chiefs are playing some good football and I am expecting them to extract a form of revenge against Royal Am for the heavy defeat earlier in the season.
