The DSTV Premiership has a full house of fixtures this weekend and we select 3 of them to look at from a betting angle.

SATURDAY
KAIZER CHIEFS v ORLANDO PIRATES
There isn’t another fixture in South Africa that gets fans excited as the big Soweto Derby and these sides are currently locked together on the table with Pirates in 6th place, 2 points ahead of Chiefs in 7th.
Chiefs had put a decent run together undefeated in 4 games before their last game a 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch at home in midweek.
Pirates are undefeated in their last 4, but with only 1 victory and that was last time out, 2-1 at home to Sekhukhune.
Last season in the League the spoils were shared by the teams with each of them winning once, but Chiefs have won 3 of the last 4 League encounters between the sides and interestingly and perhaps surprisingly 4 of the last 7 head-to-heads have had 3 goals or more in them.

Kaizer Chiefs 37/20
Draw 2/1
Orlando Pirates 17/10
Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1
Of course the first market I looked at was under 2.5 goals, but at 4/10 that is a little bit short for me. These sides don’t draw as often as you would expect and there certainly was a time in history when they did and I don’t see much between them at the moment. Of all the bets on offer early the 2/1 about the draw is the one seeing y money.
STELLENBOSCH v GOLDEN ARROWS
Stellenbosch has been the seasons surprise package and they currently sit 2nd on the log, 3 points behind Mamelodi Sundowns, but having played a game more. They haven't lost yet in the PSL this season and last time out beat Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 on the road and that was on the back of a 1-0 home win over Marumo Gallants. Goals have been quite scarce in recent Stellenbosch matches and if you were backing under 2.5 goals you would have collected profits in their last 4 games.
Golden Arrows are currently 9th on the table and without a win in their last 3 games. Last time out they drew 0-0 at home to Swallows and prior to that they staged a comeback from 4-0 down to go down 4-3 to Cape Town City on the road. The goalless draw game to Swallows aside, goals have generally flowed in Arrows games and both teams have found the back of the net in 7 of their last 9 games, that is a very rare stat in the PSL.
Arrows beat Stellenbosch 3-1 on the road last season and the reverse fixture was a goalless draw.

Stellenbosch 12/10
Draw 22/10
Golden Arrows 49/20
Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 1/1
I am basing this mainly on the number of high scoring games that Arrows have had and I can well see a score of 2-1 to either of these sides.
SUNDAY
MARUMO GALLANTS v MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
Marumo Gallants are sitting bottom of the table without a win in 7 matches. Their last game was a 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch away and prior to that they got a rare point drawing 2-2 at home to Royal AM.
They face Mamelodi Sundowns cruising at the top of the table with 7 wins and 1 draw in 8 matches. Amazingly Mamelodi Sundowns haven't conceded a goal in 8 games this season. Last time out Maritzburg United were the victims of a Sundowns 1-0 victory and prior to that they beat Golden Arrows also 1-0 on the road.

Marumo Gallants 79/20
Draw 12/5
Mamelodi Sundowns 8/10
Suggested Bet: Sundowns win at 8/10
I am often amazed by the prices you can get on a team like Sundowns in the PSL. They are running away with the League and they are playing the bottom side and were this game taking place in the EPL, I am sure the favourites would be 5/10. Yes, the Sundowns run will come to an end at some point, but this 8/10 looks a cracking bet.
