BettingDiaryThere is DSTV Premiership action in midweek and we take a look at 3 of the games taking place on Wednesday from a betting angle.

KAIZER CHIEFS v AMAZULU

Kaizer Chiefs climbed to 6th on the table with their second successive victory on the weekend, beating Maritzburg United 1-0 on the road. They had previously beaten Pirates 2-1 in the big Soweto Derby. Chiefs have now won 4 of their last 5 matches.

AmaZulu have begun to climb the table after a slow start and they have only lost 1 of their last 10 games, but have had 6 draws including drawing 2-2 away at Stellenbosch on the weekend.

These sides met at AmaZulu in October with the match finishing 1-1 and last season it was the away team that won on each occasion.

Kaizer Chiefs 13/10

Draw 41/20

AmaZulu 47/20

Suggested Bet: Kaizer Chiefs win at 13/10

I get the feeling that Kaizer Chiefs have turned the corner and while I wouldn’t back them at anything under even money, the 13/10 is a decent enough price to tempt me against an AmaZulu side that hasn’t hit last season’s highs.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS v SUPERSPORT UNITED

Sundowns are 5 points clear at the top of the table having played a game less than their nearest rivals. Amazingly in 10 matches they have yet to concede a goal while at the same time they have scored 17.

They were held to a goalless draw at Cape Town City on the weekend and that broke a run of 7 successive PSL victories. Their home form has been excellent and they have a 100% record in 5 starts.

SuperSport United are 4th on the table, but have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, most recently going down 2-1 at home to Marumo Gallants. SuperSport’s last 4 matches have all finished 2-1 and had you been backing over 2.5 goals you would have collected profits in each of those.

SuperSport have played 5 away matches with 1 win, 3 draws and a defeat. Their away games have been very low scoring, averaging just 1.2 goals each.

Mamelodi Sundowns 8/10

Draw 11/4

SuperSport United 67/20

Suggested Bet: Mamelodi Sundowns win at 8/10.

Given Sundowns recent form and excellent home record, I think 8/10 is a cracking price against a SuperSport side that is battling to stay in contention. This is of course a Derby game, but Mamelodi Sundowns have won 3 of the last 4 including this fixture 3-1 last season.

STELLENBOSCH v ORLANDO PIRATES

Stellenbosch are 2nd on the log, 5 points behind Sundowns, but having played a game more. Along with Sundowns they are the only side in the PSL not to taste defeat this season. They have won 5 and drawn 6 of their 11 matches and their last 2 games have been home draws against AmaZulu and Golden Arrows.

Pirates are currently 7th on the log with just 1 win in their last 7 starts. They played to a goalless draw at Golden Arrows last time out and prior to that lost 2-1 to Kaizer Chiefs.

Stellenbosch 2/1

Draw 19/10

Orlando Pirates 16/10

Suggested Bet: The Draw at 19/10

As mentioned in the preview Stellenbosch have drawn their last 2 home matches and have drawn more than 50% of their games in the League, throw in the fact that Pirates have drawn 4 out of 6 games on the road and I can see a very tight encounter here and I certainly wouldn’t put anyone off a 0-0 Correct Score bet at 9/2.
