BettingDiaryThe Proteas move on to Bristol on Wednesday for the first of three T20 Internationals against England and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

The ODI Series had a disappointing end when it was drawn 1-1 with the 3rd and deciding ODI been abandoned due to rain. South Africa were batting first and Quinton de Kock was on fire reaching 92 not out and the Proteas looked to be on track to setting a big total as they were on 159 for 2 after 27.4 overs.

England’s recent T20 form hasn’t been great and they were beaten 2-1 by India in their most recent action having gone down 2-0 in the series before winning the 3rd and final T20. Prior to that they lost a 5 match series in the West Indies and with their recent ODI form also not that great the team will certainly be under pressure to deliver results.

South Africa’s last action was back in June in India where they started off well winning the first two games only for India to claw back and level the series. Unfortunately much like the recent ODI Series against England no result was possible in the final match and the teams shared the spoils. That was their first action since the World Cup where they were unlucky not to make the playoff finishing behind England and Australia on net run rate.

These sides last met at the T20 World Cup with South Africa batting first and scoring 189 for 2 and they managed to restrict England and win the game by 10 runs.

Bristol has not been a regular T20 venue and England have only played three times in the last 10 years at this ground and all three of those ended in defeat.

England 13/20

South Africa 13/10

SUGGESTED BETS:

South Africa Win at 13/10

South Africa impressed me in the One Day Internationals and I see no reason why they can’t hit the ground running with a victory in this first T20.

Batsman Match Runs, Buttler over 25.5 at 8/10

Buttler is playing his favourite format of cricket here and I am backing him to get off to a strong start and to score 26 runs or more.

Top Away Batsman, Aiden Markram at 6/1

Markram’s price in this market is slightly bigger than it is for the ODI’s because there is always a chance he won’t get time at the wicket. He looked in good nick in the 1st ODI and was run out without scoring in the 2nd before he was a not out batsman with Quinton de Kock when the rain came down in the 3rd so he is in decent form and I will be hoping he gets in early and builds the innings quickly.
