Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting and Manchester City are firm favourites to retain their title at 15/20, Chelsea are priced at 5/1, Liverpool at 11/2, you can get 8/1 United and 60/1 and better the balance.

FRIDAY

BRENTFORD v ARSENAL

Brentford gained promotion to the English Premier League through the playoff system having finished 3rd on the table behind Watford and Norwich who were automatically promoted. They built their campaign on a strong record at home, losing just 2 matches and finishing the season with an over 50% win rate at their home ground.

Looking at some of the long term markets of Brentford they are 11/10 to be relegated and 6/1 to be bottom on Christmas Day.

Arsenal finished last season a disappointing 8th in the League and that is reflected in their odds of winning the title which are out at 60/1.

They won over 50% of their away matches last season and their fans will be hoping for a strong start against Brentford.

Brentford 3/1

Draw 28/10

Arsenal 10/11

Suggested Bet: The draw at 28/10

Brentford have strengthened their squad and as the betting suggests have a better than even money chance of avoiding relegation. In what should be an entertaining opener I am backing the draw.

SATURDAY

MANCHESTER UNITED v LEEDS UNITED

Manchester United finished runners-up to Manchester City last season, a big improvement from what had been seen in previous years. They will be looking to get off to a strong start at Old Trafford, but in Leeds United face stern opposition who won their last 4 matches of last season to finish 9th on the log in their return to the English Premier League.

The head-to-head matches between the sides played out very differently with a goalless draw at Leeds, but Manchester United winning at home 6-2.

Manchester United 11/20

Draw 7/2

Leeds 5/1

Suggested Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 14/10

United are usually free-scoring at home and Leeds matches had plenty of goals in them last season.

NORWICH v LIVERPOOL

Norwich bounced straight back up to the Premier League as they ran away with the Championship Title last season. They face a really tough opener in welcoming Liverpool who were 3rd on the log last season, but finished the season strong with a momentum they will be hoping to carry into new season.

These sides last met in the 2019/2020 season where Liverpool did the double 1-0 at Norwich and 4-1 at home.

Norwich 17/2

Draw 5/1

Liverpool 3/10

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 17/20

Looking back at matches between these sides over the years there have been some high scoring affairs and this bet would have arrived in 5 out of the last 6 League fixtures.

SUNDAY

TOTTENHAM v MANCHESTER CITY

Tottenham were disappointing last season finishing 7th in the League with an inconsistent run in to the end of the season of 3 victories and 2 defeats in their last 5 games. They open their campaign at home to defending champions and hot favourites, Manchester City who won the title by 12 points last season despite losing 2 of their last 5 matches.

Last season it was the home team that dominated each fixture with City winning 3-0 at home, but Tottenham getting the better of their rivals 2-0 when they hosted.

Tottenham 9/2

Draw 16/5

Manchester City 8/13

Suggested Bet: The draw at 16/5

City are firm favourites and probably deservedly so, but Tottenham have a good record against them at home and I think they can get a point out of this one.
