TUESDAY

NEWCASTLE UNITED v NORWICH

Newcastle are currently bottom of the log, 3 points behind Norwich who are 2nd from bottom. Newcastle have yet to win a game this season and last time out they were beaten 2-0 on the road by Arsenal. Their last home game was a 3-3 draw with Brentford and they have drawn 3 and lost 3 of their 6 home matches. Newcastle home games averaged 4.3 goals a match comfortably the highest in the Division and 5 of the 6 games would have seen you collect profits had you been backing over 2.5 goals.

Norwich have taken 7 points from the last 9 they have played for and their last game was a goalless draw at home to Wolves. Prior to that they beat Southampton at home and Brentford on the road. They have only won once away from home this season, scoring 2 goals and conceding 16.

Newcastle United 1/1

Draw 53/20

Norwich 28/10

Suggested Bet: Newcastle United win at 1/1

Newcastle have been poor, but with money now flooding into the club I am expecting their fortunes to turnaround sooner rather than later.

WEDNESDAY

EVERTON v LIVERPOOL

The betting in this Merseyside Derby looks a bit more one-sided than normal and that is because Everton are in poor form and currently sit 14th on the table with just 2 points from their last 7 games. Last time out they were beaten 1-0 away at Brentford and their last home game was a goalless draw with Tottenham. Everton have failed to find the back of the net in their last 3 matches.

Liverpool are currently 3rd on the table just 2 points behind leaders, Chelsea after back-to-back home wins over Southampton and Arsenal both by 4 goal margins. Goals have flowed in Liverpool’s games and their last 8 matches have all had at least 4 goals in them.

Everton had a good record against Liverpool last season drawing at home 2-2 and beating Liverpool at Anfield 2-0 and a warning to those looking for goals that 3 of the last 4 head-to-head’s hosted by Everton have finished goalless.

Everton 7/1

Draw 4/1

Liverpool 4/10

Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 goals at 27/20

This goes against recent trends in Liverpool’s games, but Everton have been struggling to score goals and I expect a dogged, defensive approach from them and this may not be the avalanche of goals that bookmakers are forecasting,

THURSDAY

MANCHESTER UNITED v ARSENAL

United are 8th on the table, 5 points and 3 positions behind Arsenal in 5th. The Red Devils were away at Chelsea on the weekend and came away with a 1-1 draw against the log leaders. Prior to that they were beaten 4-1 on the road by Watford, a result that saw Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shown the door. United have only won once in their last 8 League matches and somewhat surprisingly have only won 2 out of 6 home games this season.

Arsenal are a side that are very much on the up with just 1 defeat in their last 10 starts that came in their penultimate match, a 4-0 loss to Liverpool, but they bounced back strongly with a 2-0 home win over Newcastle. Prior to that Liverpool loss, Arsenal had taken 7 points from a possible 9 on the road, but they have only scored 3 goals in their travels this season while conceding 11.

Arsenal edged this fixture 1-0 last season and the reverse at the Emirates finished goalless. I was quite surprised to see that 5 out of the last 6 head-to-head’s in the League between the sides have seen under 2.5 goal backers collect profits.

Manchester United 1/1

Draw 11/4

Arsenal 26/10

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Arsenal (+1) at 8/10

United were much improved against Chelsea, but they have been inconsistent and I just can’t bring myself to take even money that they beat an Arsenal side that are very much on the up and are quite capable of getting something out of this game.
