SATURDAY

BURNLEY v ASTON VILLA

Burnley are currently 16th on the log and 2 points clear of the relegation zone. They are in good form after a strong recent run that has seen them take 10 points from the last 12 they have played for including winning their last 3 games. Their last 2 home fixtures have been solid victories over Wolves and Southampton during which they didn’t concede a goal.

Aston Villa are 13th on the log and have hit the magical 40 point mark which is generally considered safe as far as relegation goes. Their most recent outing was a 2-0 home win over Norwich and their last away game was a goalless draw at Leicester. Prior to that they had been on a poor run losing 4 matches in a row and they have only taken 1 point from the last 9 they have played for on the road.

Burnley 2/1

Draw 23/10

Aston Villa 29/20

Suggested Bet: Burnley win at 2/1

Burnley have won 3 in a row at home and of the two sides I feel they will be that bit hungrier knowing that 3 points could fire them close to safety.

LIVERPOOL v TOTTENHAM

Liverpool are 2nd on the log, 1 point behind Manchester City with both sides having 4 more games to play. They won their last 3 matches including hard fought 1-0 win away at Newcastle last time out and their last 2 home games have seen them beat Everton and Manchester United by 2-0 and 4-0 respectively. Liverpool are still unbeaten at home this season with 14 wins and 3 draws.

Tottenham are currently 5th on the log and are coming off a 3-1 home win over Leicester while their last away game was a goalless draw at Brentford. Overall on the road this season they have won 8 and drawn 3 of 17 fixtures and they have only lost once in their last 5 road trips.

Thee sides drew 2-2 at Tottenham earlier in the season and last season Liverpool won this fixture 2-1, their 3rd successive League win over Tottenham at Anfield.

Liverpool 5/10

Draw 4/1

Tottenham 5/1

Suggested Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 13/10

I think we are in for high scoring encounter here as Liverpool press forward against a Tottenham side that is dangerous on the break. I fancy a Liverpool win, but my betting interests will be in the goals markets where I am looking for 4 or more.

SUNDAY

MANCHESTER CITY v NEWCASTLE UNITED

Manchester City have only lost 3 games all season and they are undefeated in their last 8, winning their last 3. Last time out they hammered Leeds 4-0 on the road, but they would have been disappointed with their 3-1 extra time loss to Real Madrid in midweek, a result which saw them bundled out of the Champions League at the semi-final stage. City have lost twice at home this season scoring 50 goals and conceding just 13 in 17 matches.

Newcastle are 10th on the log and saw a 4 match winning streak ended by Liverpool at home last time out when they lost 1-0. They have only won 4 of 17 away matches this season.

Looking at goal stats, 11 of the 17 City home matches have delivered profits for over 2.5 goal backers and only 7 of the 17 Newcastle away fixtures have reached the 3 goal mark.

City were far too strong for Newcastle in the reverse fixture winning 4-0 on the road and last season they won this fixture 2-0.

Manchester City 2/11

Draw 13/2

Newcastle United 15/1

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 13/10

City have a great defensive record at home, but Liverpool are playing some good football and I fancy the City confidence may just have been rocked in midweek and that could see Newcastle sneak in for a goal. I have little doubt that City themselves will find the back of the net.
