BettingDiaryThe long wait for Formula 1 fans is over as racing resumes this weekend at the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian GP.

Punters will be well advised to pay close attention to the race as next weekend the Syrian GP takes place at the same venue.

Lewis Hamilton was in dominant form in 2019 and he finished comfortably clear of runner-up Valtteri Bottas. Max Verstappen was super consistent throughout the season and he finished 3rd on the table ahead of the Ferrari duo of Leclerc and Vettel. So it should come as no surprise then to see Lewis Hamilton priced as a 4/7 favourite to defend his title with Verstappen 7/2 and Leclerc and Bottas both trading at 17/2. Vettel will start at a bigger price than he has in many years at 18/1 and you can get a 100/1 and better the balance.

LAST YEAR

Max Verstappen started on the front row of the grid last year, but he had early problems and dropped down to 8th place at one point. He came back strongly though and beat Charles Leclerc who had started in pole with Valtteri Bottas completing the podium. Lewis Hamilton who last won here in 2016 could only finish 5th.

Suggested Bet: Max Verstappen win at 2/1.

Verstappen has won this race twice in succession and clearly loves the track. This is one of the few circuits where Hamilton has failed to dominate and I think he could be worth taking on here. If you are looking for something a bit more speculative then take a bit of the 13/2 Charles Leclerc finishes on pole position as that is exactly where he started the race last year.
