BettingDiaryThe PSL takes a break this weekend and we have MTN8 semi-finals and we take a look at both games from a betting angle.

BLOEM CELTIC v SUPERSPORT UNITED – Click here to bet

Bloem Celtic beat Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the quarter-finals and then they drew 1-1 with SuperSport in the 1st leg of their semi-final. Celtic’s overall form hasn’t been great and they have had 2 losses and 2 draws in their last 4 competitive matches.

SuperSport United overcame Tshakhuma 3-2 in their quarter-final before drawing with Celtic at home. They are coming off a 1-0 midweek win over Stellenbosch in the PSL and have only lost 1 of their last 5 competitive matches. The 1-1 draw in the 1st leg was the 3rd consecutive fixture between these sides that has finished 1 goal each.

Betting:

Bloem Celtic 17/10

Draw 21/10

SuperSport United 16/10

Suggested Bet: The draw at 21/10

I can understand why Celtic are favourites at home, but there is so little between these sides that I can see another draw could be on the cards.

If you are looking for a bigger price then take the 1-1 draw to land for a 4th consecutive match at a price of 5/1.

KAIZER CHIEFS v ORLANDO PIRATES – Click here to bet

When these sides meet there is no such thing as home ground advantage as both of them are based in Soweto and wherever they play in the country they are guaranteed plenty of support.

Kaizer Chiefs saw off Maritzburg United 2-1 in their last 8 match, but they were then hammered by Orlando Pirates 3-0 in the 1st leg and now have it all to do. Chiefs are battling in the League as well and are coming off a goalless draw with Galaxy and earlier in the season also took a 3-0 pounding at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates edged past Cape Town City 1-0 at home in their quarter-final before convincingly beating Chiefs 3-0 last weekend. Pirates are undefeated in their last 8 competitive matches and in midweek beat Bloem Celtic 1-0 away in the League.

You can’t read too much into recent head-to-head results between Chiefs and Pirates, but I was quite surprised that you had to go back to October of 2017 for the last time they played out a goalless draw.

BETTING

Chiefs 7/4

Draw 21/10

Pirates 31/20

Suggested Bet: The draw at 21/10

Yes, I like the draw in this game as well, it is generally a big runner in South African Cup football and I think Pirates will be happy to adopt a defensive approach, in fact I have a sneaky feeling for a goalless draw available at odds of 6/1.
