BettingDiaryThursday looks a comparatively quiet one or sports betters, but there are still opportunities and we take a closer look in our Daily Diary.

FOOTBALL

Europa League 2nd leg last 32 matches take place on Thursday and early kick-off’s one of the stand out games looks to be Porto v Bayern Leverkusen.

Bayern Leverkusen won the 1st leg, 2-1 at home so things are nicely set up and looking at the betting for this game Porto are 11/10 favourites with Leverkusen 9/4 and the draw 53/20. We think Leverkusen can hold Porto over the 90 minutes and progress to the last 16 so the draw appeals at 53/20.

Manchester United are at home to Club Brugge in one of the later kick-offs and they were held to a 1 all draw in the 1st leg.

United had a convincing 3-0 victory over Watford in the EPL on the weekend and they should be too strong for Brugge at home and they are priced at 9/20 with the draw 63/20 and the visitors 27/4. We fancy Man United can win this by more than a goal and the handicap of (-1) appeals at 13/10.

GOLF

The Honda Classic and the Oman Open start on Thursday and there are a host of betting markets available on each Tournament.

In the Honda Classic, South Africans will be expecting a big run from Louis Oosthuizen priced at 30/1 the win and 6/1 a Top 5 finish.

As we mentioned in our Wednesday Diary, the Oman Open does not have the strongest field and looking at the South Africans we are hoping to see Justin Harding start to return to the form that saw him contend in the US Masters. Harding is 60/1 for the win and 12/1 for a Top 5 finish.

SOWETO DERBY

The count down to the Soweto Derby taking place on Saturday is on with Pirates and Chiefs meeting in a PSL fixture.

To whet the appetite here is the betting, 33/20 Pirates, 2/1 the draw and Chiefs, the current leaders of the PSL, are 7/4. There are also a number of other markets on offer, but more on this later in the week.

HORSE RACING

Local horse racing takes place at the Vaal Race Track on Thursday, a 9 race card starting at 12:40 and set to finish at 17:15.

A number of races have a tricky look to them and Race No. 7 run over 1400 metres has certainly been priced up as a two horse affair with the Isle De France 11/10 and Rock The Globe 12/10, you can get 6/1 and better about the other 6 runners in the field.

Our best bet on the card comes in the 6th Race run over 2400 metres, Horse No. 3, Before Noon currently priced at 13/10.
