BettingDiaryThere is plenty of live sport for punters to get involved in on Thursday and we take a look at some of the highlights in our Diary.

CRICKET

In the Caribbean Premier League the Knight Riders take on the Patriots and it will be great to see some of the West Indian stars in action. The Knight Riders are favourites at 4/7 with the Patriots 27/20 and Darren Bravo is 33/10 favourite in the Top Home Batsman Market.

While on the topic of cricket, Bangladesh v Afghanistan 1st Test gets underway with Bangladesh 4/10 favourites to take out the win and, of course, the 4th Ashes Test continues and you can click here for the prices at the end of day 1 which sees Australia 11/10 favourites, the draw 18/10 and England trading at 15/4.

GOLF

A number of Americans have made their way over to Europe for the Porsche European Open and Xander Schauffele is the market leader at 13/2 ahead of Paul Casey 8/1 and Patrick Reed at 10/1. Patrick Reed has a nice mixture of course and current form and he is our pick to win at 10/1. For a bit of a South African flavour we are going to throw in Zander Lombard to finish in the Top 5 at 28/1.

FOOTBALL

The International break is upon us and there are plenty of UEFA Euro Qualifiers taking place on Thursday. Amongst the televised games to look forward to is Ireland v Switzerland with the Irish 28/10, the Swiss 23/20 and the draw priced at 41/20. We fancy both teams to find the back of the net at 12/10.

CYCLING

The Vuelta a Espana continues on Thursday with Stage 12 and this should be another one for the breakaway as the profile is similar in many ways as Stage 11. Finding a winner won’t be easy if Stage 11 was anything to go by and I don’t think many of us had ever heard of the winner so it may well pay to cast your eye way down the betting boards.

RUGBY

Let’s look ahead to Friday at 12h15 when Japan take on South Africa and a very strong South African side has been backed during the week from (-17.5) to (-19.5) points favourites. It will be very interesting to see what conditions are like with plenty of humidity expected and we should get a taste for what is to come in the Rugby World Cup. We will look at this game in more detail in Friday’s Diary, but for now speculative play on Herschel Jantjies to be the Top Try Scorer at 14/1.

HORSE RACING

Local Horse Racing is at Turffontein on Thursday with the first race set off at 13h00 and the 8th and final race at 17h25. Our pick of the day comes in the 7th race run over 1450 metres and we like No. 7 Midnight Lights at a current price of 2/1 for the win
