BettingDiaryTennis, Varsity Cup Football, Golf and a One Day International are amongst the sporting events that punters can bet on this Thursday.

CRICKET

India wrapped up a 3-0 series sweep over West Indies T20 Series and the sides now do battle in the ODI arena.  Not surprisingly World Cup semi-finalists, India, are firm favourites at 3/10 with the West Indies priced at 5/2.  There will be a host of markets to bet on including in-running options.

VARSITY CUP FOOTBALL

The Varsity Cup Football third round takes place on Thursday and TUT Football will be looking to extend their advantage at the top of the table as the only side to have won 2 from 2.  They won’t have it all their own way against second place NWU, but have been priced as 1/1 favourites with NWU at 22/10 and the draw at 12/5.

Another close betting heat is Tuks v UJ, sitting 5th and 6th on the table where Tuks are the favourites at 11/10, UJ are 19/10 and you can get 5/2 the draw.

TENNIS, ATP Rogers Cup

The tennis continues in Montreal on Thursday and while some of the fixtures still have to be finalised at the time of writing, the Alexander Zverev and Nikoloz Basilashvili match has been priced up with the latter 17/10 and Zverev 9/20 favourite.  There are a host of other markets available on the match including Total Games which is 17/20 the pair, over or under 22.5 and Zverev to win in two sets at 7/10.

GOLF

The PGA Tour continues with The Northern Trust Open and here we have recent WGC St Jude Invitational winner, Brooks Koepka, trading as a 9/1 favourite ahead of Rory Mcilroy 12/1, Dustin Johnson 16/1, Jon Rahm 18/1 and you can get 20/1 and better the balance.

All eyes will be on Tiger Woods who has not looked at his best and played very rarely since his Masters victory and the great man is priced at 35/1 a win and 7/1 a place.

We fancy a bit of Hideki Matsuyama whose form has dipped a little bit of late, but if he can return to anything like his best, the 55/1 he wins will look a great price.

The Ladies Scottish Open takes place this weekend and Ariya Jutanugarn is the 6/1 favourite ahead of Hyo Joo Kim priced at 17/2 and you can get 10/1 and better about the balance of the field.

We mentioned in yesterday’s Diary that the impressive Ashleigh Buhai from South Africa is 55/1 and while I certainly wouldn’t discount her chances she has it all to do against a very strong Asian contingent at the top of the betting boards.

Our play for this week is a win only bet on Minjee Lee at 11/1.

COSAFA CUP

The COSAFA Cup women’s semi-finals take place on Thursday and Zambia play Malawi with South Africa up against Zimbabwe.  At the time of writing we were still waiting for the opening betting on these matches and you can click here to bet on the COSAFA Cup.

HORSE RACING

Let’s sign off with Horse Racing where the local meeting takes place at The Vaal Race Track with the first race off at 12h20 and the 9th and final race at 17h05.  It is in the 9th race where our fancy runs, number 3, In for A Penny, currently priced as a 4/1 joint favourite in what looks a very open race.
