BettingDiaryThis weekend promises to be a bumper one for punters and we take a look at some of the betting highlights on offer.

RUGBY

There are three Currie Cup matches taking place on Saturday and as it is the final round of regular season action there is plenty to play for.

All of the games are priced as tight affairs with Griquas (-2.5) against Golden Lions and the Free State against Western Province and Blue Bulls v Sharks basically choice games in that the bookmakers are battling to separate them.

The Sharks impressed last week against the Golden Lions in Johannesburg and we think they can make it two wins in a row on the Highveld at the current price of 19/20 against the Blue Bulls.

The Mitre10 Cup continues with matches on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday morning Auckland play Bay of Plenty and we are expecting a tight game and a narrow win for the home side with Auckland under 12.5 points priced at 16/10.

The International warm up games should be interesting with Scotland (-2.5) against France and England (-7.5) at home to Ireland. Although they took a big hiding in France last week we are expecting a totally different performance from Scotland and reckon they can win this game by 3 or more.

SOCCER

The English Premier League takes centre stage this weekend, particularly the match on Saturday between Liverpool and Arsenal, both of which have started with two wins from two. Liverpool have been rampant in this fixture the last 2 years, winning 5-1 at home last season and 4-0 the season before with both reverse fixtures at Arsenal finishing in draws.

Over 3.5 goals would have arrived in 6 of the last 7 League meetings between the sides and at a shade over even money at 21/20 that is where we think the value lies.

There are 5 PSL fixtures taking place this weekend with the pick of the bunch Kaizer Chiefs against SuperSport on Saturday night. Chiefs are 14/10 to win the game with the draw 39/20 and SuperSport 23/10. Chiefs have opened with victories over Highlands away and Black Leopards at home and SuperSport bounced back from a disappointing opening day loss to Sundowns to beat Orlando Pirates 3-0. This should be a tight affair and SuperSport will certainly be the toughest team that Chiefs have faced to date and we think the visitors will get a point.

HORSE RACING

There are 3 local Horse Racing meetings taking place this weekend with Turffontein and Kenilworth on Saturday and Greyville Polytrack on Sunday.

On Saturday Race 6 at Turffontein over 1600 metres looks an open affair and we think we will get a big run from Sammi Moosa No 5 currently priced at 9/2.

On the Polytrack on Sunday our attention shifts to Race No. 3 where Horse No. 3 Velvet Season is priced at 19/10 a win.

MOTOGP

The British MotoGP takes place on Sunday and it is no surprise that Marc Marquez is the 13/20 favourite. While it is hard to argue about his place at the top of the boards, I do think there could be some value in Maverick Vinales at 25/4. Vinales is showing signs of returning to form and we are hoping he can deliver at a healthy price.

CYCLING

The Vuelta a Espana starts on Saturday and there are a host of outright markets at this link. Looking at the Team Classification betting Jumbo-Visna and Movistar are joint favourites at 18/10 and we think there may be some value in Astana at 7/1 as the Astana team looks very strong and they will of course be riding for Lopez who is currently the second favourite.
