BettingDiaryPunters will have no shortage of options when it comes to betting this weekend and while the Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals are the highlight, there is also English Premier League action and some top class horse racing.

RUGBY

The Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals played over Saturday and Sunday with England against New Zealand on Saturday. England are (+7.5) point underdogs and they do look that they have it all to do against this New Zealand side. We expect this to be a close encounter and our suggested bet is in the Winning Margin where we like New Zealand by under 12.5 points at 14/10.

Sunday’s match sees Wales against South Africa and Wales is certainly battling with injuries at the moment although South Africa are also without Kolbe. The current line is Wales (+8.5) and the bet we fancy here is South Africa to win by more than 12.5 points at 13/10.

The Mitre10 Cup Final also takes place on Saturday with Tasman up against Wellington and Tasman are very strong favourites at 1/5 with a (-12.5) handicap.

FOOTBALL

The English Premier League is back after an International break and Manchester City are 1/10 to see off Aston Villa in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The pick of the weekend’s fixtures looks to be Liverpool at home to Tottenham with Liverpool 11/20 to get back on the winning trail after being held to a 1-1 draw at Manchester United. Tottenham had a good win in Europe in mid-week, but they are battling domestically and they are as big as 5/1 for the win with the draw at 69/20.

There are a number of PSL matches taking place this weekend and the pick amongst them must be Sundowns up against Kaizer Chiefs. Chiefs currently top the log on 19 points from 8 matches, 2 points ahead of Sundowns but Sundowns have a game in hand. Sundowns are 15/20 favourites with the draw at 23/10 and we do believe there is some value in Chiefs here at 17/4 and more conservative punters could take Kaizer Chiefs (+1) on the handicap at even money, meaning they can draw or win the match for the bet to arrive.

The F1 Circuit moves to Mexico for the Mexican Grand Prix and here we have Charles Leclerc trading as favourite at 2/1 with Lewis Hamilton 27/10, Sebastian Vettel 77/20 and 17/4 and better the balance.

HORSE RACING

There are 3 meetings priced up for the weekend at the time of writing mainly the Greyville Polytrack on Friday night with an 8 race card off at 17:00 and finishing at 21:10.   Our fancy here comes in Race 5 where we think La Duchesse makes a popular Pick Six banker at a current price of 15/20.

Saturday sees a double header with Turffontein getting going at 12:30 and the 9th and final race at 17:20 and it is certainly hard to look past 3/10 shot, Gin Fizz in the 5th Race run over 1450 meters. It is another Mike de Kock trained horse that we fancy with a bit of value in the 3rd Race, Horse No. 3 Mrs Simpson, currently priced at 9/1.

The real action this weekend takes place at Kenilworth on Saturday with a 9 race card starting at 12:50 scheduled to finish at 17:40. The highlights are without doubt the Cape Classic, Race 6 and the Western Cape Fillies Championship in Race 7.

In Race 6 we like the price of Macthief currently 9/1 a win and 19/10 for a Top 3 and in Race 7 Horse No. 3, Roll In The Hay at the current price of 5/1.
