With the US Open just around the corner the PGA Tour heads to Canada this week and specifically the North Course, TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ontario for the Canadian Open. We select four players to take on the bookmakers.
THE COURSE
This will be the first we see of TPC Toronto as it hosts this Tournament for the first time (it is confirmed to host again in 2026). The course plays fairly long at 7,389 yards and it is described as a parkland layout with fairly wide fairways, plenty of bunkers and some water that comes into play on 4 holes.
Given that we have no course form to go on, it is very difficult to know what type of player will win this week so our focus will have to be on recent form as we search for winners.

SELECTIONS
Rory McIlroy win only at 5.50
Last week we went win only on Scheffler and he came home comfortably to deliver the goods. Of course it is tempting to back McIlroy each way, but we don’t want to tie up too much money and would rather spread the cash around on some of the longer priced players. Rory has been quite lightly raced since the Masters although his form has slightly dipped a bit, I am expecting him to get back into the groove ahead of next week’s US Open.
Ryan Fox each way at 71.00
Fox has been playing some fairly solid golf and last week he finished in the top 20, just two Tournaments after securing a victory. Fox has been on my radar for the last few years and I get the feeling that he is really coming into his own in 2025.
Nick Taylor each way at 51.00
Taylor does tend to be a bit inconsistent, but he has shown pretty solid form in his last four starts, a top 15, a top 20 and then a disappointing missed cut before a 4th place finish last week. Despite the presence of McIlroy and Åberg at the top of the betting boards, this isn’t the strongest field and I am expecting another big week from Taylor.
Alexander Norén each way at 56.00
Norén was solid, but not spectacular last week finishing inside the Top 40 and prior to that he was a solid T17 at the PGA Championship, a disappointing round of plus 5 dropped him down the leaderboard. Noren is one of those players that I earmarked for greatness earlier on in his career and he didn’t quite deliver, but it is not too late and I am expecting a big performance from Noren this week.
