BettingDiaryThe Summit Club in Nevada is the venue for this weekend’s PGA Tour event, the CJ Cup and we select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.

The Summit Cup makes its debut on the PGA Tour and it is a par 72 layout. The course looks likely to be a typical Vegas layout set in the desert and with wide fairways and large greens. It will be easy on the eye and I am expecting the players to go low this week.

Xander Schauffele is the favourite this week at 10/1 ahead of Justin Thomas and Dustin Johnson both trading at 12/1, Collin Morikawa 16/1 and you can get 18/1 and better the balance in what is a quality field.

SELECTIONS

Collin Morikawa each way at 16/1

Morikawa was in outstanding form in the Ryder Cup although his form before that wasn’t that great, he was suffering from an injury. He has won in the desert before and was 12th in this Tournament last year all be it at a different course.

Jason Kokrak each way at 45/1

Kokrak is the defending Champion which is obviously of limited value given the change in venue, that being said, last year’s win tells us he enjoys golf in this part of the world. Although he missed the cut last week he did have a couple of solid Top 15 finishes leading up that.

Cameron Smith each way at 35/1

Smith returns to action on the PGA Tour after a short break and he is certainly in solid form with 3 Top 10’s, a Top 5 and a runner-up finish in his last 5 starts. He also has an excellent record in this event finishing no worse than 11th in his 4 starts so Vegas type golf courses appear to be his liking.

Alex Noren each way at 100/1

My big outsider this week has played some solid golf over the last few months with a Top 5 and a Top 10 finish and in his last 5 starts he hasn’t finished worse than 27th. Indications are that his game is coming back together and I think he could give us a good run for our money at a big price this week.
