BettingDiaryWith the Masters fast becoming a distant memory the PGA Tour moves to the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton, South Carolina for this weeks RBC Heritage Tournament.

Harbour Town Golf Links is a true test of golf and plays to a par 71. Being a links course, wind is by definition a major factor and this course suits the shot makers. The fairways are a lot narrower than what players experienced at Augusta and the greens are small so the ability to scramble for par is important and possibly the most critical part of a players game this week.

As is usually the case at Harbour Town we have a quality field taking to the 1st tee despite the fact that the tournament comes directly after a Major.

As mentioned above we have a quality field and Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa dispute favouritism at 14/1, Cameron Smith who played so well at Augusta last week is 16/1, Dustin Johnson is 20/1 and you can get 22/1 and better the balance.

SELECTIONS:

Collin Morikawa each way at 14/1

Morikawa finished last week’s US Masters on a high with a brilliant hole out from a bunker at 18. It secured him a spot in the Top 5 and his recent form has been solid with a Top 10 in his previous outing.

There was plenty of money on Collin last year, but he came up short finishing 7th. Morikawa certainly has the game for this layout and of the favourites he is my pick this week.

Billy Horschel each way at 55/1

Horschel has been a bit hit and miss of late, last week he finished 43rd in the Masters although I quite liked some of the coverage I saw of him in the final round. He had previously put in some good performances with two Top 10’s and a runner-up finish in his previous 5 starts.

Horschel finished 25th here last year and in 2018 managed a Top 5 and from what I can see his game looks in pretty good shape.

Webb Simpson each way at 40/1

Simpson has remarkably consistent form at this venue and he finished inside the Top 10 last year. That was on the back of winning it in 2020 and prior to that he had 3 performances with a Top 5 and two Top 20’s.

Simpson never contended last week at the US Masters, but he was solid enough on a course that I don’t think suits him that well finishing inside the Top 40. His current form is solid, but not spectacular and I am hoping that a return to Harbour Town will bring out the best in him.

Matt Kuchar each way at 80/1

Kuchar was a winner of this event back in 2014 and he has a clear liking for the course as he has only finished outside the Top 25 once since then and finished 18th last year. Kuchar delivered solid each way returns for us in his last start when he finished runner-up, prior to that he had a Top 20 finish so his game looks to be coming on nicely.
