BettingDiaryThe FedEx Cup race concludes this week with the Tour Championship which takes place at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. We select 3 players out of a field of 30 to do battle for us against the bookmakers.

The handicap system will once again apply this year and below is how they will start:

Onto the course and East Lake is a par 70 which has played fairly tough in recent years. Accuracy off the tee and finding Greens in Regulation tend to be your biggest weapons against the course.

Punters should note that this week we have two Betting Markets which are not to be confused. To win outright who is going to ultimately win the Tournament in the FedEx Cup using the handicap system and here Patrick Cantlay and Jon Rahm are 4/1 co-favourites, but there is also 72 hole stroke play betting which will work as a normal tournament and here Jon Rahm is a 7/1 shot to take out the win. I am not a big fan of the handicap system and will focus my bets on the 72 hole stroke play winner.

SELECTIONS

Jon Rahm win at 7/1

Jon Rahm ticks all the boxes and since his US Open win he hasn’t finished outside the Top 10 and has had a couple of Top 3 finishes thrown in. He also has an excellent record here at East Lake and has played the last 4 years, not finishing worse that 13th with his best finish of 6th last year. Rahm seems to be in a great place at the moment and I am expecting him to take out the stroke play as well as the FedEx Cup this weekend.

Xander Schauffele win only at 12/1

Schauffele hasn’t been in the greatest of form and while making cuts he hasn’t been threatening the top of leader boards in the last few weeks. It is his course form that is impossible to ignore though with 2 victories and a runner-up finish in his last 4 starts, the 4th of which was a 7th place.

Billy Horschel each way at 70/1

I have fond memories of Horschel’s FedEx Cup win back in 2014 when he won this event. He has only played it twice since, but he was runner-up in 2018 and last year finished stone last. Horschel has had a decent if not spectacular year and give my win only pays on the shorter prices on Rahm and Schauffele, he is my long shot for the week.
