Madrid’s group stage record read 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. On the road they went down to Shakhtar Donetsk, beat Inter and drew with Monchengladbach. Their recent domestic form has been strong with 4 successive victories, most recently 1-0 away at Valladolid and they haven't conceded in their last 3 League games.

Real Madrid have been getting victories domestically, but haven't really being firing and despite Atalanta’s poor home record in the group stages, I think they can get a point out of this one.
I had a hard look at the recent trend as far as goals go, but couldn’t find anything obvious to bet on and will stick with the draw which I think will be a big runner in this group.

Monchengladbach lost their final 2 group stages, but still managed to progress to the last 16. They were a mixed bag at home with 1 win, 1 draw and a loss which came against Inter. Their group matches are generally high scoring and prior to the final game which only had 2 goals, all of their matches had 4 goals or more in them. They have been battling domestically losing on the weekend 2-1 away at Manz and they have only taken 1 point from the last 9 they have played for in the League.
Manchester City cruised through the group stags with 5 wins and a draw, that draw coming on the road to Porto. They are in rampant form domestically and beat Arsenal 1-0 away on the weekend, their 18th successive victory in League and Cup competitions.

City are priced up as short priced favourites for this one so I am turning to the goal markets and hoping that the Borussia game follow the trends we saw in the group stages with plenty of action at both ends.
