BettingDiaryMonday English Premier League action is back and we take a look at the West Ham v Leicester match from a betting angle.

West Ham opened their new campaign with a 4-2 away victory over Newcastle. Newcastle took the lead as early as the 5th minute only for Cresswell Aaron to equalize for the Hammers. Newcastle took the 2-1 lead to half-time though, but by the 66th minute, West Ham had gone 4-2 in front to seal the victory.

While I wouldn’t read too much into warm-up games, West Ham played a number of friendlies before the season started and they are undefeated in their last 10 starts.

Leicester also got their campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory at home to Wolves. The goal came from England striker, Jamie Vardy who popped up at the right time to put across into the back of the net.

Last season this fixture was a thriller finishing 3-2 to West Ham who had also beaten Leicester 3-0 on the road earlier this season. The season before it was Leicester who did the double over West Ham, but one common trend when these sides meet is that we tend to get goals and over 2.5 goals would have arrived in 5 League meetings and both teams have found the back of the net in 5 of their last 6.

West Ham 16/10

Draw 5/2

Leicester 7/4

Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 15/20

I really like this bet given the fact that goals tend to flow freely when these sides meet. There were also 6 in West Ham’s first game and Leicester are a side who are very dangerous on the counter attack, a very useful trait when it comes to scoring goals on the road. This should be an exciting match and my main bet is that we will get at least 3 goals.

I am probably not going to get involved in the Correct Score Market, but looking at a couple of the prices we have got 2-1 to West Ham trading at 33/4 and you can get 2/1 to Leicester at 35/4. A repeat of last season’s 3-2 victory to the Hammers is trading at 27/1. If you are looking at the First Goal Scorer market here we have Kelechi trading at 21/4 favourite and although he didn’t score first in this fixture last season he did bag 2 goals. Jamie Vardy looked sharp last week and he is an 11/2 shot to score the first goal.

Remember there will be in-running betting on the game so if you don’t fancy anything up front or just feel like getting further involved, keep an eye on the odds which move constantly throughout the match.
