EnglandT20WCThe first of three T20 internationals between England and India takes place in Southampton on Thursday and we take a look at the squads, recent form and the all important betting.

The rescheduled fifth test match finished as recently as Tuesday of this week and England won it by 7 wickets to square the series with Root (142 not out) and Bairstow (114 not out) taking them home.

We now have 3 x T20's (to be followed by 3 ODI's) and we start with the squads.

England: Jos Buttler (captain), Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Richard Gleeson, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Tymal Mills, Matthew Parkinson, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Reece Topley, David Willey

India have named separate squads, one for the first T20 and then another for the 2nd and 3rd matches

Recent Form

England's most recent T20 action came in the West Indies in January this year and they lost the series 3-2. In late 2021 they made it to the semi finals of the World T20 in the UAE where they lost to New Zealand.

Last month India drew 2-2 at home to the Proteas, losing the first 2 matches, winning the next 2 and a decider was washed out. Since then they were 2-0 winners in Ireland. India have won 14 of their last 16 completed T20 internationals.

Head to Head

Overall the teams have met 19 times with England winning 9 to India's 10

The most recent series came in India in March 2021 and India won it 3-2.

The Verdict

I see a couple of teams who look evenly matched but whilst that may suggest the value lies with India to win I prefer the Player Performance markets where points are awarded as follows.

Total Points. Run = 1pt. Catch = 10pts. Wicket = 20pts. Stumping = 25pts

Dinesh Karthik should have the gloves for this first T20 with Pant expected to take over the the second and third matches. His quote therefore looks beatable to me.

I'll also row in with Hardik Pandya to beat a similar quote.

Player Performance Bets:

Dinesh Karthik over 22.5 points at 17/20

Hardik Pandya over 23.5 points at 17/20
