Leicester evens Draw 27/10 Brentford 2.57/1

At the time of writing Leicester were the only top flight club who hadn't made a new signing for the coming season and long serving goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has moved on. They finished eighth last season with 10 of their 14 wins coming from home fixtures and they also went deep in the Europa Conference League.

Leicester are 5.25/1 to finish in the top 6 this season.

Brentford's maiden Premier League season was a memorable one. They started as one of the favourites for relegation but finished thirteenth and with 46 points, 6 shy of Leicester, they were never in trouble. Keane Lewis-Potter has joined from Hull for £20m and Aaron Hickey comes in from Bologna for £18m whilst Ben Mee has signed on a free from Burnley.

Brentford are 5/2 to be relegated this season.

Verdict:

I'm open minded about the outcome of this game but both of last season's league meetings finished 2-1 in Leicester's favour and I'm going to nibble at the same scoreline here..

Bets: Correct Score 2-1 at 74/10

Manchester United 6/10 Draw 3.05/1 Brighton 4.72/1

United finished sixth last season, all of 13 points shy of a top 4 finish. Erik ten Hag is the new coach and so far transfer arrivals include Christian Eriksen - Brentford, free, Tyrell Malacia - Feyenoord, £14.7m and Lisandro Martinez - Ajax, £56.7m. Pogba, Lingard, Matic and Mata have all moved on.

United are 33/1 shots in the betting to win the title and 1.75/1 to finish in the top 4.

Brighton finished in mid table just 8 points behind United last season. A number of their stars from that campaign have been the subject of bids from top clubs but so far only Yves Bissouma has left for Spurs. Brighton boasted the fifth best away record in 2021/22 .

Brighton are 12/10 to finish in the top half of the table this season.

Verdict:

The new coach could well bring about improvement for United but right now I'm not overly convinced they can get anywhere near the likes of City and Liverpool and the North London clubs will also be chasing the UCL qualification spots.

Hag was in charge of a free scoring Ajax side, the EPL is a completely different ball game but my gut feel is over 2.5 total goals is the way to go.

Bets: Total goals, over 2.5 at 9/10

West Ham 68/10 Draw 4.25/1 Manchester City 0.37/1

West Ham finished seventh last season. They threatened the top 4 for a long time but going deep in the Europa League probably had an impact and they faded towards the end of the season. Gianluca Scamacca - Sassuolo, £35.5m, Nayef Aguerd - Rennes, £30m and Flynn Downes - Swansea, £12m are among the new arrivals.

West Ham are trading at 4/1 to finish in the top 6

City clinched the title on the final day of last season and although they lost the Community Shield to Liverpool in pre-season, the real business starts here. Erling Haaland - Borussia Dortmund, £51m and Kalvin Phillips - Leeds United, £50m are the headline arrivals, Raheem Sterling has joined Chelsea whilst Jesus and Zinchenko moved to Arsenal.

@Playabets have City as 6/10 favourites to defend their EPL title and Haaland is 11/4 to win the EPL Golden Boot.

Verdict:

City lost an EFL Cup tie and had to scramble for a 2-2 draw on this ground last season and West Ham could again be a handful.

I'm thinking goals for both sides and 3 or more in total.

Bets: Total Goals & Both Teams to Score? , over 2.5 and yes at 23/20
